Mine came up at age 32 so I'd be dead keen to know what that Dr found! I have had surgery recently and had a reaction to the nerve block for my left shoulder - the left side lump swelled like crazy and has not gone down. I look like I'm growing a twin! That was definitely an allergic reaction so I will be watching and waiting with interest.

I am 63 with ovarian cancer. Noticed the gel packs 3 months prior to finding the cancer. Am overweight by 20 pounds was exercising before all the cancer chemo treatments. When I get the chemo my gel packs swell up bigger maybe from the steroids they give me before the chemo. In a few days they go back down to the smaller but still gel pack size. I also get vitamin C drips the day before & after the chemo.  Doubt this helps identify anything except the body has to deal with something it doesn't like .  My gel packs continue to stay . It's now a year with 8 months of that dealing with abdominal surgery & chemo which should be done this month of Jan. & I pray to be cancer free . Best wishes to all of you.

I posted back in 2010 about the swelling on both sides of my neck so I thought I would update my condition.  My doctors still say the lumps are fat pads but the pads are alarmingly large now, with the left much larger and starting to extend over onto the back of my shoulder.  The right has also grown drastically.  My allergist ordered autoimmune tests in November which didn't show any problems other than my thyroid.  I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism along with the multinodule goiter and have undergone a biopsy on one nodule that rapidly increased in size.  I have not taken any steroids.  Years ago when I first noticed the swelling on the left side I had just gone off the antidepressant, Wellbutrin and first attributed it to the side effects I had from that medication.  I will be seeing my primary care physician next month and get her thoughts again but am not expecting anything more than the usual brushoff even though it has grown substantially.

Hi Puds. My left 'imaginary lump' (so called as it doesn't exist on MRI) swelled following surgery on my left shoulder and a nerve block put in at the base of my neck on that side - which hurt, which was unusual as it didn't hurt when I had it done on the right side for surgery on my right shoulder. Why 'fat pads' would swell suddenly (as in 12 hours) and then not go down is unusual don't you think? Surely they should be the same size? You don't see people walking down the street fatter on one side than the other! When your doctor tries the brushoff, ask him/her to explain that!

Kiwi, what I don't understand is why moderately overweight or obese people I know don't have these "fat pads", as the doctors call them, yet I can see the disdain and mocking from these so called physicians.  One doc, with a smirk on his face, said he could do liposuction on my neck!  These reactions have all been from male physicians, by the way.  Right now I'm 30 lbs overweight but when the swelling appeared I was only 10 lbs overweight.  With my weight fluctuations from mildly overweight to overweight, it makes no difference--my "pads" continue to grow.  I think the indifference is because it seems to be primarily a women's problem.  If this condition was prevalent in men there would be more concern and studies to find the cause and treatment.  Women are, after all this time, still irrelevant.

When mine came up I was 60kg - hardly overweight! I had just had a bad virus that at first the Dr thought was leptospirosis and then tests cleared me of that, so it was just called 'unknown origin' - but it knocked the hell out of me. I was tested for TB at this time, because of these 'lumps'. My weight went on a decade later after a hysterectomy and with all the meds I'm on for Rheumatoid Arthritis (which was diagnosed two years after that virus). If a doctor tries to say this is because of weight, I simply tell him they came up when I was 60kg - and then tell him to come up with another theory! I met an 80yr old man with RA once and he had these swellings too - he said they came up prior to being diagnosed. His ached sometimes too - like mine. If this was fat, why would it hurt when the seat belt pushes on it? Why would it go up and down on one side only? Doctors must think we are simple - saying things like that just shows THEIR ignorance.

It sounds like an activated immune response - like mine. Interesting. I told my GP about this site and he has asked for the web site. Maybe he will follow something from here. Fingers crossed. Hope you are feeling better - it's a big fight you have been fighting. Blessings from New Zealand.

My God folks, don't you people know anything about Natural Healing. The medics are good for crisis only. They can't fix anything else. The stats prove it. Chiropractic, accupuncture, colon cleansing, tissue sprcific nutrition, anti-parasite regime, liver decogestion, heavy metal detox, get the metal out of your mouth, meridian therapy, etc. etc. There's all kinds of things you can do. The drugs won't do it folks. Wake up...

Yeah, we could strap a fried egg to our forehead too Ken. Don't be so damn patronising. Some of us HAVE tried that and all we got for our trouble was a lighter wallet. How about you link up with someone with this and once you have CURED them, then you come on here with your 'wake ups' and your 'you people don't know anything'. YOU don't know anything mate - anything about the people on here, their lives or their problems. Oh, and the next time you are in a car accident, get them to drop you off at the local herbalist eh.

I think that people on here are more concerned with finding the what it is, the cause, etc, even more than finding out how to fix it.

Covered that car accident stuff, the medics are great at crisis therapy. I personally know many medical doctors who do GREAT work. I even refer people to them when needed (crisis). But they can't "cure" anything, the stats prove that, and they freely admit it. Matter of fact, they advertise it. Why you people keep going to them is beyond me. Oh thats right, its covered by insurance. I guess it doesn't matter to you that the drug companies own the insurance companies. Look it up. If you want to learn how to get healthy, fine, I'll teach you. I've been doing that for over 30 years now. Even terminal stuff the last 12 years. Started with myself with liver cancer. Have also corrected the double swelling phenomenon many times over the years. But you people worship your medical doctors. So be it. Besides, its not easy to get healthy, but it IS doable. Too bad its not covered by your insurance. And Mate, I know a hell of a lot more about this than you do so back off clown. I will NOT bother with this forum again. I learned long ago not to waste my time with people that worship their medical doctor. Again, wake up people, Its later than you think.

And of course for every doctor that YOU think is only good for crisis stuff, I'm sure people can provide a story about Quack herbalists to match. And again, it is no surprise that you came on this site trying to tout for business - looking for people who might be at a loss with the medical world and vulnerable enough to try...oh, maybe you? Good - get off this forum and go 'peddle your wares' somewhere else. What we need on here is people who genuinely want to offer assistance, not 'clowns' who think they can come on gung-ho, belittling anyone who doesn't try good old 'Saint Ken' who can cure himself of cancer, do the 'terminal stuff' and no doubt raise the dead as well. And it's later than you think Ken, because in my country we see the sun before you do, and the moon too, and its my bed time..and you bore me.
