I have a 17 yr old that had a kidney stone on the right with slightly swollen kidney.
this pain has continued for three months off and on. Toradol doesn't help
and lortabs make her sleepy so going to school is difficulty. Two weeks
ago she had the same pain. On a urine test she had hgb and protein in urine. antibiotics were given. the next week the urine test was better but
still not normal.
the following week she noticed three pea sized raised areas in her right
axilla. Went to the dr. and she also has swollen lymph nodes in groin area
bil. cbc , 7 and mono test was normal.
Still no diagnosis or reasoning for swelling or r sided pain.

Hey there, this is the second time I have heard that at the same time a person has problems with kidneys and swollen lymph nodes in the armpit.
The most common areas where the lymph nodes can be felt are groin area, armpit, neck, under the jaw and behind the ears. When they become swollen, it is the result of the infection, abscess, inflammations and rarely cancer.
So as your daughter has problems with her kidney, I believe this has to be linked with the swelling of lymph nodes, but you check it out with her doctor. If the swelling doesn’t go away in a month, she should go for a check up.
Has your daughter had the urine culture done, maybe some bacteria could be found that is the reason why her kidney hurts? Does she feels some burning while urinating? Has she noticed blood in urine and is she having a feeling she needs to pass the urine frequently?
If she has all of these symptoms, these lead us to think it’s the kidney infection.
You do all the possible tests so that you can find out the cause of such condition the sooner the better!
