I had on c-section with no obvious problems in 2005. After a failed VBAC attempt I ended up with a second section in 2008. My Dr. mention adhesions when he went in for the second section. Directly after my section, my belly was huge and bloated. I had horrible gas, bloating and bowel issues. My bowels have never regained their regularity since the second surgery. I too have that strange pain on my left side from time to time (I notice it when I am bouncing on a trampolene or in a bounce house...strange...). This is a cause of great concern to me as my grandmother died of colon cancer. How does one go about fixing this problem? I do not expect to be completely normal after two major surgeries...close to normal would work fine.

I had my son in September of 2009. Prior to this, I never had a problem with my bowel movements. Soon after my c-section, I was having constant diarrhea. I ignored it, hoping it would get better. Plus, I thought It was just a symptom of having a baby. I didn't know because this was my first child. But, weeks turned into months. I went to the doctor. All they could tell me is take fiber pills. They also suggested that I get a colonoscopy and that I probably have IBS. Lately, I've been constipated and I'm lucky if I have a one bowel movement in 3 days. It goes from one extreme to another. I honestly believe my bowel issues has something to do with my c-section.

I too am so relieved to be reading all of this. I had my son 3 years ago (this January 2011) and I had a C-Section. I have not felt right & to read what others have shared are very helpful!!!!
I'm happy to hear I'm not alone! But I sure wish we all felt better!

I too have bowel issues since my C-section almost 3 years ago. I had to have an emergency C-section and suffered a lot of trauma from being in labor so long. They said my cervix was torn and that I had a uterine artery to rupture that had to be repaired during the section. I think that they are probably the ones who actually ruptured it. The dr. told me I had internal damage as well as external damage and due to this I would be twice as sore as the average woman after a c-section. I hurt so bad I could barely lift my feet to even walk. It was too days before I could even sit up in bed and hold my baby. But with that being said, when I came home from the hospital I developed horrible diarrhea for about two weeks. The doctors office called me in something to take because she thought I may have gotten an infection from all the antibiotics they pumped through me while I was in the hospital. The diarrhea did get better, but since then I have suffered so many bowel issues. My stomach stays nauseated, I have stomach pain a lot, bloating, I cannot eat large meals so I cant gain weight. I weigh less than 120 lbs, and I have been to the GI doctor who said he did not think my problems were due to c-section trauma, even though I told him I did not have any problems before c-section; what an id**t! I am sick of doctors, all they have ever done for me is make me worse. Their medical degrees! They know nothing of natural medicines, all they are taught in medical school is drugs drugs and more drugs. They are the reason I am so messed up now. Stay away from doctors and their drugs, they are the ones who will kill you.

Hi, I also am having major problems after my c-section and my son is now 15 months old. You need to ask your Dr to send you for a MRI scan to make sure there are adhesion damage. I have since found that loads of women have suffered similar stories. If you suffer any abdominal pain you should go straight to your local A&E to seek advice as It can be very serious. you could have internal damage caused by the surgeon.

Hey Y'all,

I feel your pain!! I've been having problems with BM for a good little bit now. I had my son about 2 years ago and I HAD to give birth to him by C-Section because he had a heart defec;, since then I've been having so much problems with my BM, constantly constipated. I went to the doctors and verified this so she just issued me a high fiber diet. Well, my husband and mom seem to take one fiber tablet and have to run to the bathroom; while I have to take the max 6 in order to do anything to me. I am an inspiring nurse and I think I have found a solution to alot, not all, of our problems. I've been down in the dumps the pass two years after my son passed away and I haven't gotten a lot of exercise sense then, My ab muscles are very weak because of the surgery and with no exercise I can't fully recover. Your muscles in your back and abs hold your intestines and help providing them support will help them work properly. With the excerise; you're also working out your inside organs. Think about it, we had our guts laid out all over us; you have to believe that therapy and TLC is necessary is deserved after we go through such an experience. Atleast I think we all do!

I agree with u my daughter has just had a c-section due to the incompetent of a registrar who done the c-section she lost 3litres of blood they left pieces of the placenta behind, now she cannot go to the toilet without laxatives, bloody doctors, plus they sweep every thing under the carpet cannot take responsiblity for there actions

I had an emergency c section 7 yrs ago, i've had constipation problems since but have got worse in the past 2 years! i get stomach cramps so bad i feel like i could faint, i have to lie flat till it passes, i bloat out, my stomache goes hard an i get back ache! i cant poo for weeks on end to the point of overdosing on laxatives which allow me to have very runny poo but still dont feel like i've got rid of it all, i'm at the end of my tether fed up of going to the docs about it, have been occussed of using laxatives to loose weight! was relieved to find i'm not the only one, and that they're may be a reason to why its happening!

I had an emergency c-section, almost 5 years ago ,with my daughter!!

I was leaking amniotic fluid, and was in danger of a placental abruption!

S o she was born at 35 weeks...5 weeks premature!! She was fine when she was born ,she had to go I the

NICU ,cause she was premature,to be monitored....

had a 8 as an agar score, and didn't neEd to go on oxygen at all ...she was fine! I on the other hand ,

Was in rough shape and felt weird and really hot after the delivery ,they said I had a fever ,then I started

projectile vomiting everywhere!!!

They wheeled me up to the NICU to hold her for the first time . I started feeling nausciuos and they had to get a bucket

for me ...The next day after I got some sleep ,they did an xray of my abdomen, and fou do had an intestinal blockage

From the c-section surgery... So they gave me medicine for the nascia and a lot of pain meds...to help me sleep.

They put a tube up my nose ,down my throat ,to drain out the bowel backed up in my intestines....

I was excrutiating ,and I asked them to take the tube a day early!:( So after that my bowels were moving again!:) So the nausia went away !!Then the third day I was there my blood platelets were low was really really pale !!So they dot to do 2 blood transfusions because my oxygen in my blood was low...I lost a lot of blood before ,during and after the c-section!!

So that took a whole night for them to do

I slept through the first transfusion and woke up during the second one!! By the 4th day I was well enough to finally feed and ho my daughter every 3 hrs. In the NICU!

Then I got fluid in my left lung from ,laying in bed sooo long ,and the had me breathe into thisa oxygen measurer everyday until,my level and amount of air I blew out was normal. I kept getting fevers non stop throughout my stay..so they had me stay an extra day !!

So I was in the hospital for 6 Days.

'They said I could not see my daughter for a couple days cause I had a fever..still.

Then I was upset because ,they wouldn't let me take her home on the day they said they would...cause I still had a fever....and wanted to make sure I was well enough to take care of her:( I bursted out crying and was sooo upset!! Then the next day when she was 13 days old ..they let me sleepover and take her home !We stayed in the suitI the the NICU,and we got her hospital piDone done befoleft brought her home. My case was very rare both of my friends had c-sections and were fine

hello, ask The Lord Jesus to help you and he will, try to avoid caffeine as this will irritate the problem of incontinence even more, drink lots of water to rid your body of toxins and help to prevent infections. it wouldn't hurt to go get a 2nd opinion from another doctor, good luck to you.best wishes, valerie-cna
