Hi. I’m 36 years old. I had breast cancer 3 1/2 years ago and at that time I have now been told I have the BRCA1 gene. At this time I am being offered preventative surgery but I’m not sure should I take it or not. Is there anyone here who has done this? I would really like to know more information before deciding to take this surgery. Thanks in advance.
I don’t know if you’re going to find any of those here due to privacy issues and confidentiality laws. Persons who carry braca-1 gene like to keep it private. On the other hand, your family doctor should be a useful resource for you, and consider genetic counselling too.
