I’m having some slight breakthrough bleeding where the spots of blood are about the size of pinheads, and there is about maybe anywhere from 10-15 spots. Nothing heavy. There is maybe one or two times where one of the spots was bigger than a pinhead. This has been going on for about a week, and this is the first time this has ever happened to me. Is this normal? Should I be worried or wait to see if it happens next month around this time?

I’m 21 years-old and I’ve been on birth control for about a year and a half. I’ve never completely stopped or skipped any days. There were a few times where I would forget to take my pill at the normal time I would take it, but I would just take it when I remembered, which was normally like a hour or two later. I am a virgin.

I’ve also have a cyst on my right ovary and I have had it for about as long as I have been on birth control. I recently had my appendix taken about 3 weeks ago, and the week after I had surgery I had finals which stressed me out and I remember taking my pill late at least 2 days that week, which was when I had my period. I am currently in the middle of taking a 2 week crash course, which causes another huge amount of stress added to me recovering from surgery.

Also if it this helps with getting an answer, my mom was diagnosed with cervical cancer about 3-4 years ago when she was 55 years-old. She is currently recovered.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
