Hello, good people. I have recently survived a stroke. I am recovering slowly, but I am starting to feel burning pain in the upper body after stroke. Is this possible? Why is this happening? Can you help me with this? Your answers are more than welcomed. Thank you very much for your help.
Hello to you too. The burning pain that you are experiencing is also known as post-stroke pain. The exact cause is not known. Some people believe it is caused by the hyperactivity of autonomous nervous system. Since the brain is damaged in stroke, autonomous system wrongly interprets different sensations like burning pain. Common painkillers cannot help here. Usually, the pain decreases slowly in the following years. It can also appear in leg, arm or face. Temperature change, movement or something else can aggravate this pain. You should talk to your neurologist about this.
