Today I was able to see my family physician for this problem. My 'rash' is completely under the skin and doesn't hurt unless I push on my leg. It is not raised on the skin, doesn't itch and appeared suddenly. It is visible on the skin on the top of my feet where I have a few larger marks to above my knee where there are small dots on my lower thighs. The rash goes around my entire leg and is solid around my ankles and diffuses, so the dots are spaced apart more the higher the dots are on my leg. His diagnosis is veinous stasis and said it is caused by swelling and constriction. Upon talking further, I concluded he was indeed correct. My calves and ankles were swollen and I wore ankle-high socks with elastic around the ankle. I didn't feel as though the socks were tight, but apparently they are tight they compressed the tissue and caused capillaries to break. Once broken, tiny amounts or dots of blood to pooled in the tissue. He said that it will happen again if I have swollen ankles and wear tight socks. The condition may fade, but it may be permanent.
I was very glad to get a diagnosis as four other medical professionals were unable to diagnose the malady. To hear that this may be permanent is upsetting as I do enjoy wearing shorts and dresses. Even though I'm 55, I have been thankful that I still have nice-looking legs. In fact, I probably remarked one too many times that I was glad my husband of 35 years was a "Leg man' [he is attracted to women with nice legs] because that's the only part of my body that is relatively unchanged since age 18 when we met. lol Now, even the unchanged is changed.

IM having the exact issue. I had breast cancer surgery with reconstruction and now I'm having this problem I've been to my doctor who sent me to dermatologist who thinks I m allergic to black socks( i had them in that say). But I don't wear them or any and still having the problems which started on one leg and now is on both. They want me to under go allergy testing but I really don't think that's the problem ....it is very hard dealing with the unknown. I've received so many creams that don't work either. Like someone else said rest seems to be the answer if you learn anything new please share

I read all of these post by people in their 20's and 40's but being overweight seemed to be most common on the list of those affected. So it's safe to assume poor diet and exercise are up there too right ? Not in my case so back to the drawing board guys. I worked in underground pipeline construction and managed a car wash so I'm physically fit @ 175 lbs. and I'm 5'10" tall. I however noticed the brownish reddish tint rash with tiny broken blood vessels on both of my feet. It's been years now and has not gone past my ankles. My legs used to swell and my socks would leave a dent in my legs even when barely tight. I began feeling the pressure getting worse and found myself raising my legs to relieve the pressure. So since I was 38 this has been ongoing. I made the connection between the swelling with something in my diet. It was the canned tuna fish I was eating for years but only until the last 8 months or so did I start reading labels and wondered if the fish came from the radiated Atlantic. Off the coast of Thailand was close enough for me to chance. The swelling stopped completely when I stopped eating what used to be my favorite sandwich. I'm also big on reading labels everything and stay clear of the gmo's. I feel much better but the rash has remained unaffected by my diet or my exercise.

For some reason I could not read your entire post. I have the same problem. The dermatologist told me the same thing and lasers may take them away but they may come back. Very expensive to laser them; So, I guess we are stuck with this condition. I have resorted to wearing compression knee highs, but the problem is still there. I am 5' 1' 1/2 and I weigh 120 lbs. I walk 3 days a week and do yoga. It just looks so horrible.

I meant the Pacific Ocean in my post that was radiated. Anyway I had it clear up at one point but then it came back so there's hope for us yet. I just have to connect the dots somewhere. By chance do you walk around barefoot when nobody is looking or more specifically outdoors through the morning grass? or do you always wear a rubber based sole shoe?

I to suffer from this disorder. There is a difference, I am a male in my mid fifties. So the cause can't be from child birth but it could be from standing on my feet to long or cutting off my blood to the ankles due to socks elastic to tight. I have found socks made with loose elastic that don't cut off blood circulation. It has not gotten worse but it has not gotten any better either. I have not been to the doctor for this condition but was recently in for a unrelated matter. I showed it to a couple doctors and neither seamed to be concerned. I am concerned as well about it but my concern is can the condition be cleared up spots go away and my feet return to normal. Is there a specialist or just a general doctor is who i should see?

I don't have a weight problem but two years ago,I started getting these rust colored spots on my ankles.I thought it was a sun burn, but has gotten worse, traveling up my legs.It is Shamberg disease and nothing can be done about it.They do have laser treatments but it is not covered by insurance and might not help.I am not a vain person, but my ankles look dirty. It bothers me wearing sandles in the summer.I have a feeling it developed from the Coumadin I have been on for 6 years and need to be on for the rest of my life.Is anyone else going through this.....
