Hi,

To the ladies worried about being able to get pregnant, I am a walking testimony that GOD CAN DO ANYTHING. I was diagnosed with Amenorrhea when I was 19. I had pretty weak periods for a while and then they just stopped altogether. It had been over a year when I finally went to the OB and got diagnosed. Anyways, they called it something else (I think it was obligovulation) back then in 1998. Anyways, the OB said that it may be difficult for me to get pregnant without medical help later in life. Well, in 1999 my husband and I got married. We both wanted at least one child but we were afraid we couldn't since at that point I hadn't had a period in over 2 years. We sat down together and prayed one night in Jesus Name that God would give us at least one child. We made a decision that night also to never use birth control again and we made a vow that we would take as many children God wanted to bless us with and then we waited. NOT VERY LONG! I had my first child at the end of that year. We never used birth control again and now here in 2012 I am expecting my 8th child. I have not had a regular period in over 14 years still. Now I'm not saying everyone has to go the no birth control route we took but this is our testimony of the mighty powers of God. My OB's are still baffled by this little miracle. We are a blessed family.  Have a blessed day ladies!

Kate French, Your situation sounds similar to mine. My periods stopped when I was in grad school, and my gyno predicted that my ammennorhea was caused by stress from grad school and a previous (and gradual) loss of 20-25 lbs. That was approximately 4 years ago. Since then, I've maintained my weight (with slight 5 lb variances every now and then), I exercise regularly (3-5x a week), but not strenuously, and have a BMI of about 19.5 (possibly slightly higher now). I was taking birth control for abot 3 years, but stopped ~10 months ago when I was diagnosed with Raynaud's disease (a non life-threatening conditions where my blood vessels dilate too quickly, causing extremely cold hands and feet). I was worried that taking birth control would increase my chances of blood clotting, and I was worried about side effects of taking birth control for too long. Now I'm 27, want kids desperately sometime in the near future, and am worried since my last 2 gynos and my physician just say, "Well, some women are just like that" and keep wanting to push birth control on me. I want to be OFF birth control, but also want to make sure I'm not harming my body or damaging any possibility of being fertile. I've even tried acupuncture and some supplements in the hopes of initiating my period naturally. I also went to a rheumatologist about 2 years ago, who ruled out any hormone balances at that time. Confused, frustrated, and worried...

I have had amenorrhea for the past 7 years. Six years ago I started trying to get pregnant but it was virtually impossible to plan without knowing my cycle. We tried clomid without success and eventually were referred to the fertility clinic here in Calgary. I was 25 at the time. We did one round of IVF and we now have healthy three year old twins! So don't worry. You may not be able to get pregnant on your own, but there is still a great chance that you can become pregnant with a little help!

Hi girls, I had amenorrhea for 5 years. For 2 years I was taking lot of pills but I felt even worse and it did not work. So I stopped taking pills and start the huge detoxification of my body and mind. I stopped eating any animals products, gluten, any chemicals, eating just bio food and  I was eating like this for 2 years. After I started to eat just raw food - vegetable, grains and fruits and now my period has started!! Of course I was working on my mental health as well - amenorrhea means that you are not proud that you are a woman and that is the first thing what needs to be changed. I am not sure how it will be with getting pregnant, but I think if I managed to restart my cycle after so many years and without chemical cure, anything is possible :). Good luck to all of you <3
