Hello Guest Laddyyyy!!

Very helpful post, for me. I was experiencing the same, exactly the same.

My question - how can be sure that it will be healed, completely?

My doctor gave me Gaviscon and something else and I am really really fine after even 1 week.

But anyway, should I ask for another upper endoskopy in a month?

I really feel scared having problems in my food-tube or that I had some...

What do you think and what is your experience? Did you make re-check endoskopy after the heal?

I have many of the same symptoms....my issue is when I eat I can feel the food going down, and it starts to feel as if it is to wide for me to swallow...almost like swallowing a toothbrush sideways feel.    Its like my airway and chest completly tighten up and I have extreme pain in my chest...this is torture.....I try to eat small bites and have a huge glass of water with everything I eat.  Been to several family doctors and the most I've gotten is here's a prescription for indegestion..naproxiam (spelling is off)   honestly this helps for a day or so...even after taking for the 14 days.   Once Im done..the pain is back...I sometime have pains so bad that I am doubled over and gasping like someone shoved food in my mouth waited for me to swallow and then put an elephant on my chest.  I eat very little now and drink mostly water.  Any ideas?  is this indeed gerd/indegestion?

I had the same problem since 15 days. Yesterday I took Gaviscon Advance and pain has gone. I took yesterday after noon and then waited for half and hour and tried to eat something, I did not feel pain, then I took it again after dinner...Now I don't have any pain at all....

I took an Aleve pill 4 days ago and the pain felt as the pill was burning my esophagus. Since then the pain occurs when swallowing, eating and drinking.

some people with some of these symptoms will end up here.)Hey guys I hope everyone with this issues sees this.  You may have this to a lesser or more sever extant.  I had pneumonia a little over a month ago and one day after not sleeping for days and days I woke up after taking what was not a smart amount of various medications to help me sleep and help my symptoms. Well, I slept but I woke up with the feeling I had been shot through and through from under my left rib cage and out the back. I feared that I damaged my liver and was so embarrassed I didn't go see anyone and lived in agony and off of left over pain killers for a good week or so. I couldn't lay on my front or back without it making it worse, when I ate right after each swallow it hurt really bad, I felt bloated right under my rib cage, and was easily out of breath. At times it felt like I was having a heart attack. I finally went in after being out of pain meds and the doc was really concerned. They did blood work and that was all find, so no worries about liver or gallbladder so she was concerned I had a pulmonary embolism but I had no other symptoms related to that. Still, she wanted a catscan to be sure but I wasn't about to pay for that. So I went home and did TONS of research. I came to the conclusion I had developed GERD. So I went and bought some over the counter 150 strength generic zantac to find out if that was my ailment. Sure enough after two days of taking it twice a day my symptoms pretty much went away. I stopped taking it to make sure I wasn't just better and it was a coincidence and yep after a day it came back. I called my Doc and she agreed (my thought is why didn't she realize this!?!?) So I started back up on a prescrip of same med and have been on it for the past week and pretty much prob free. If I forget to take my night dose I know because I start coughing which is another symptom because the acid is irritating your throat. I go take it and in about 30 min stop coughing. I hope this reaches and helps everyone scared to death by these symptoms like I was. It is a pretty cheap test to see if this is your issue without paying for all the other tests. HOWEVER! If you have a change in your stool like some people have said tarry looking or bloody GO TO THE DOCTOR because that is not GERD, that would likely be a peptic ulcer or something else similar which can be an emergency.

Did you go to the doctors yet? My daughter runs 6-8 miles a day, NCAA athlete. Very very active. After a 5K race indoors she had difficult eating and since then is experiencing the same symptons you are describing for the last 4 days. I actually watched her eat as she has to chew her food like it's in liquid format to force something down, but it burns while going down and stings like thumb tacks. She's been running since 9 years old, now 24. Never an issue. Now we're at an unhealhty state since she's not getting nutrition nor the calories. Curious on your outcome.Thanks.

This makes perfect sense to me. I was lifting alot of heavy things at work and it is very difficult to swallow. I lifted things that were even a hundred pounds on my shoulder. Much, Much pain. As in where it enters the chest I feel it. It doesnt want to go down.

wow, so glad I  found this thread. I have just woken up to day three of "what the heck is going on."  I feel anything I try to swallow going down my throat, as it reaches about my solar plexis, I feel terrible pain/pressure. Doesnt matter if its liquid, solid, saliva, hot or cold. It even hurts when I burp, and feels like I have chest gas often which I actually do not have (I have tried anti gas pills and powder).  I like so many others in this thread (Ive read them all) have taken medication without water and felt as if it didnt quite go down all the way. If a burned esophagus or scratched valve is the problem I will be relieved, while painful it does apper to be temporary as long as you stay away from acids in food (citric, tomato, coffee). Im off to buy some mylanta, it appears to give some immediate relief, I will post back with my initial results (I promise), also I will try elevating my head and chest when sleeping (fortunately I have an adjustable bed since apparently just adding pillows isnt sufficient). If it turns out to be GERD instead, I guess that too can be treated (although with no health insurance and just enough money to get by now, dont know how Ill afford the medical bills). Well, good luck to me and everyone who gets this painful, frightening thing happen to them.

I have been diagnosesd with GERD it seems for 100 yearrs and take amerprozole . However, last few weeks, a simple swallow of water starts a horrible pain in my upper chest and "hangs"   I nearly pass out with pain and I think lack of air...I manage to stretch my body and twist to keep from passing out and it seems to "go down" or "away". Then it stays in the chest as if I need to belch , but can't belch. It lasts a long time and actually keeps me fr drinkiing water.  What on earth??   It constantly feels like I need to belch.  I've not found any o/c medications to help...horrifying pain and why does it feel that I am going to faint ?   H E L P !

Yes I am 16, female and I am experiencing this too. I thought it was because I recently had strep throat. My throat is all better and it's still occurring. It is extremely painful to eat or drink anything.

I am 17. And my symptoms are kind of similar. I get this feeling everytime i swallow that something is stuck in my throat. And when i eat or drink anything, whether it is hot or cold i get this uncomfortable tightening feeling in the middle of my chest. It gets painful when i drink soda o eat anything with mustard on it. I think it may be heart burn, which i have never had before, or acid reflux. Im edging away from the doctor because im hoping its not serious but hopefully there is some medicine that will knock it out.

I see that you don't use medication but I found this through some experimenting. I was taking pills (fairly large) right before I would go to bed and the next day I had trouble breathing and it hurt to swallow. After a couple days of not taking the pill before bed I noticed the symptoms were gone.

Have you found out what it is? My mom has it too, I'm really worried about it, she says it feels like something is stuck in her throat and she gets this pain on the right breast and in the middle. I really hope it's not a disease :/ Please contact me ASAP when you get this.
