I'm a 19 year old college sophomore who goes out and drinks on a regular basis- I get enough rest when I can but sometimes there will be a few days where I get little-to no sleep. After this happens, I wake up with the same re-occurring illness.

In september 2009 I came down with an illness that started off with a sore throat-I was diagnosed with mono and I was sent home from school to run it's course. Then, in July of 2010 after a few late nights of partying I became so ill for about a week with the same sore throat, only this time I had a butterfly-like rash across my face and red splotches all over my body. I went to the emergency room in the middle of the night because my throat closed almost completely- I would take a sip of water and it would just sit in the back of my throat, not go down. The doctor at the ER gave me 3 bags of saline because of dehydration, 2 doses of morphine, and a dose of steroids. He ran a blood test for mono and swabbed my throat for strep- both were negative. I felt better by the end of the day due to the steroids. In September of 2010 I spent two nights out partying with a friend, I woke up the morning after with the same sore throat and rash I went to the doctor immediately, he tested me for both mono and strep C- this time both were positive. He sent me home with antibiotics. The next day I began vomiting and having diarrhea non stop. My doctor prescribed me steroids and once again I felt better pretty quickly. In November of 2010, I had another weekend out and had the SAME sore throat. I returned to the doctor and he said it was no longer sounding like mono- but perhaps rheumatoid arthritis or lupus. He ran a blood panel- all of the results were normal EXCEPT it still showed positive for mono- the doctor had no idea why. He said the mono test shouldnt be positive 2 months after the original test. Now it's December of 2010- I'm home for Christmas break and I've been out for the past few nights with friends- and I woke up with THE SAME SORE THROAT AND RASH!!! There is clearly a connection between going out and whatever it is that I am sick with. Has anyone ever been through this before?!

I don't know if you're drinking the same thing every night you go out with friends- but maybe you could be having an allergic reaction?

simple. your body is telling you to start taking care of yourself, You're obviously the canary in the coal mine and have less tolerance to late nights and drinking etc. If it turns out to be RA or Lupis, google msm and dmso. cheers. tp
