Every time and ever night I have this problem with my blood sugar. It is where I have a hypo close to night time. So how do I avoid this? I don't have any idea why it happens because I have 't changed anything recently. I am on Lantus and that is it. I take it around after breakfast. I try to eat all my carbs I am to eat per day.

I can understand your concern about your low blood sugars at night at what to do about it. You may want to try eating an extra carb unit in the evening and see if that helps your low blood glucose levels during the night. You may eat a carb with a protein food to help the carb in the slow release of glucose through the night. You may also check and see if you are indeed getting enough carbs in during the day. Another possibility is to check with your doctor and see if you need to cut back on your Lantus a bit to take care of the problem. Hopefully, it will take something simple like adjusting your food intake. Another thing could be that if you are exercising much in the evening, you are burning much glucose and your body is not replenishing it at night. Adjusting your time for Lantus, like taking it earlier in the morning, for instance, may make a difference.

I have had that problem in the past with low blood sugars occurring in the middle of the night and I would have real low ones in the morning. I did some switching things around, not walking at night, and eating a few whole wheat crackers at night before going to bed. This seemed to help where I did not have to do anything with my insulin routine. I think that you will just need to do a little experimenting.
