I'm 23 yrs old and I've been having heavy bleeding with blood clots and gushes of blood if i stood up or changed positions for the past 5 years. Some days the blood and clots flow out of me like a tap that's been turned up high and I have to change my pad every 5 mins. I pretty much bleed everyday, all day, for the past 5 yrs. I've been to the ER 6 times for is and they keep telling me its just a heavy period. I've been to the gyno who ran tests and said I'm normal, that its all in my head.
I've never been pregnant, never had a miscarriage, don't have any STDs or underlying health problems. I'm overweight but other than that there's nothing wrong with me. I'm not on any medication, and I'm not on brith control. Right now I've been bleeding for about 6 mths striaght without a break.
The gyno has tried the pill, the patch and the needle methods of birth control, several times, several types, nothing works. They've tested me for fibroids, endometriosys (sorry I think I spelt that wrong), cysts, PCOS, immune disorders, STDs, and blood cloting issues with nothing coming up in the tests. The bleeding gets so bad that I have literally missed days of work, school and I can't leave the house.
I'm so upset, my fiance understands but I'm sure its straining our relationship. I have to wear pads EVERYDAY.. I am at the point where I just want to have a hystorectomy to stop the problem so I can live a normal life. The bleeding and clots gets so bad I can't live a normal life because if I move blood gushes out or a blood clot passes through..Eww so gross.
Please...please... If someone out there can help me..or point me to a surgeon in North Eastern Ontario Canada that will give a 23 yr old in desperate need of help surgery...let me know... I need something done... I was suppose to get married today but instead we had to cancel the wedding because I was bleeding to hard. My wedding dress can't even be white because I'm so worried I'll bleed through my pad onto my dress.
Please, if anyone can help or give any advice... Thanks!!

I had this in the past, and it was PCOS. I just want to say you can become anemic from this. I had to have a blood transfusion when I felt so weak that I could not get up. So make sure you have someone monitor your blood counts if this happens, and that you take a supplement. I lost 100 lbs and I will be honest, it stopped. But then I actually got pregnant (after 10 years of not!) and gained a lot of the weight back during the pregnancy, and now it has started again. Im sick of it, and have been trying to lose weight again and hoping it helps. I dont take any hormones now because they trigger severe depression in me.
Im not saying that would help for everyone, just that was what helped for me. I don't know medically what happened, I just know that when I lost the weight, my periods were like normal again, and actually stopped and started, versus this contant bleeding. Oh and I was exercising pretty regularly, so that prob helped too. So I decided if it worked before, I will try it again, and have taken off 30 lbs again. I haven't gone back to the doctor, and that's prob not the best idea, but I get sick of them saying "there is nothing I can do, except here's some pills/hormones." The last time my gyn blew me off even though I was changing products every hour, and I called my PC and cried in her office, and she did the blood tests that showed I WAS actually anemic.
Anyhow, maybe that's helpful to someone I hope?

APRIL 25th(MONDAY)2011 I have suffered since I was 11 years old and had my 1st period ever which lasted 15 days. My 2nd one last 50 days, and my longest ever was over 9 months long. I am now 25 years old and nothing has changed; blood clots and fluent bleeding still rule my life! People think I'm too shy to date, but the truth is I'm too scared and embarrassed to get a boyfriend. At times I have to constantly be changing my pads because I don't wear just one, I attach TWO together! This time it hasn't stopped... I've been bleeding for 5-6 months and I am tired all the time, but everytime I've gone to doctors for help they don't listen to me and don't prescribe what I NEED. This is a curse and I can't let it keep ruining my life! I want to have a normal life D:CAR wrote:
I have to admit that I have not seen a doctor about this yet --- I do not like going to doctors as I always leave feeling stupid because I get the feeling they don't believe me. I am overweight and things are blamed on that often. I know that doesn't help me at all and that is a whole other story that I need to take care of......but when something is wrong I know it. The last specialist I was sent to made me cry right in his office and that just embarrases me.
The problem is that I am experiencing constant vaginal bleeding. I can't remember a day in the last 3 months that there hasn't been something. Before that I might have gone a 1/2 week with nothing but otherwise it is the same story. It will be light for a couple of days and then EXTREMELY heavy for 1 or 2 and then fall somewhere in between. When it is very heavy I pass several LARGE blood clots (can fill the palm of my hand) and I find I am changing sanitary supplies in less that 10 minutes. I can't sit, stand, lay down without having to change my clothes.
I am only 26 years old and all searches I have done online come up with pregnancy related issues. I am not and have never been pregnant.
Anyone had anything similar?

YYYYEEEESSSSS! This is exactly what I have been experiencing... My local PCP says it's polycistic ovarian syndrome -- however, i have my doubts. Five years ago I was diagnosed with Cushing's Disease and had a pituitary tumor removed. Within the last 3 years my symptoms have returned. From December 2005 to June 2006 i did not have any periods. Starting right around the beginning of the July my period/bleeding started and has not stopped since. Like the above experience, some days have been light or just spotting and then for no reason with no pattern (days, months, etc.) i will start heavily bleeding/clots, etc. coming out. I would even go so far as to call it hemoraging. I'm currently overweight and have gained alot of weight in the past few years. I believe the weight gain is associated with the hormone imbalance. I have an appt. with my PCP this week and hope to get some answers. I am 30 years old, never been pregnant, not on birth control pills or any over the counter prescriptions. I have no pelvic pain or cramps, i've simply been bleeding almost every single day for the past 6 months. Has the person who posted the above message please let me know if you found any answers.
