Hi all. I need a little help calculating corrected and actual age of my preemie, and I would appreciate any information on this. My son was born at 25 weeks. My neo ped doctor said something about my baby's age. He told that there are two dates that count. I was told that corrected age is in reference to the due date and actual age is based on when the preemie was actually born. And that my son as a 25 weeker will be 1 year corrected (which is 1 year from due date), but 9 months actual or adjusted (9 months since his actual birth). I've also heard (from another doctor) that once a preemie turns a year old there is no more corrected/actual age. My son would just be a year old. My question is how do you count this? Is that from the day he was born or from my actual due date? Also, when do we stop using the corrected/actual age explanation? I've looked everywhere on the internet, but I couldn't get the right information.
