I had a cortisone injection in my shoulder today 6/9/16 and I was urinating frequently. Like others whose replies I have read I also wet my self a few times. Couldn't get to bathroom fast enough. This is not the first time I had cortisone injection, I never remember having an episode like this before.
I got one in my shoulder joint twice a year and since the one on the 10th of this month I have been going like crazy. Never had this problem before! I wonder what is different. I deliver papers over night and even stopping at three different stores I still peed my pants and at the side of the road both days since! So frustrating!
6/16/16 Got one today in my knee After doc already drained 40 cc's of fluid out of it! Now this evening I've been peeing every hour and an enormous amount! Wondering if it acted as a diuretic!! I too googled side effects and this is not one that is listed. Glad I came across this site so I know I'm not crazy! I too have had shots in my hips and shoulder and elbows, pretty much all my joints. Don't remember this ever happening before.
I've been getting steroid back injections for a year or so and every time I have an injection, I pee like crazy!! I know that steroids by the mouth, like prednisone make you pee a lot too. So it seems to make sense. It makes me feel relieved that others are going through this as well.
I just had 2 shots in my shoulder yesterday and am running to the bathroom every 1-2 hours. My dr told me that it was a possibility this would happen.
I just got a cortisone shot in my back today. Cannot stop peeing. Every half hour I'm going. I wouldn't mind it usually , but I just had a hysterectomy 9 days ago, and it's killing me to be getting up so constantly. I am relieved that it's common and not just me having a problem. Hope it goes away soon
Have the same situation going on from a cortisone shot in the hip today. Jumped on here to find out what may be going on and am pleased to know that it's just no me. I'll take the needing to go over the pain.....if the shot works!
Just had cortisone shots in both knees yesterday and got up to urgently have to urinate four or more times last night . Probably lost about five pounds overnight according to scale. I usually sleep through the night. Knees were so painful to stand and move when pain killer wore off. The two symptoms don't mix! Better today thank heaven!
Everytime I get a cortisone steroid injection I have excessive urination also
Omg this is so me right now but why never before. He actually had to restart the procedure cause he did something wrong involving a lot of pain and blood. I'm so confuses

Glad you posted this. I only had one cortisone Injection in my knee earlier this morning and was wondering why I was making so many trips to the bathroom today. I didn't have a lot of fluid intake but I am urinating every 10 minutes likes I drank an entire water tower.
Getting cortisone injections in my lower back for inflammation of the spine. Last two times, about a week later started having urge to pee every 45 minutes. Went to pcp and put on cipro, cleared up in a week. This time I mentioned the shots connection and the doc said, well that is a different story. Cortisone elevates your sugar levels and would cause you to act like a diabetic. The cipro probably did nothing, and it just cleared up on its own. So we are giving it a week before I see my urologist.
I had a cervical epidural two days ago and have been getting up 4-5 times a night due to urination also. I believe it is due to the inflammation in my body and the steroid being an anti-inflammatory. The swelling in my hands has decreased so much I can now make a fist and take my ring off; therefore, I welcome the fluid release.
I got my 2nd injection today in my lower back I have 7 herniated dics in my back the largest one is 4.5 and the first shot didn't hold just 2 day's now I'm waiting to see what happens with this one other than spending time in the bath room
