I also have begun bleeding a couple weeks after an injection, after being post-menopausal 3 years now. I'm 53. Two of our daughters were staying with us over Christmas and, as females will do, ended up on the same cycle. The odd thing was that *i* began to experience cramping. I thought it was possibly a sympathetic response. I then began feeling odd bouts of unexpected rage, crying jags, and HOT flashes severe enough to wake me. A coupe weeks later, I'm bleeding.

My mom had post-meno bleeding and in her case, it was endometrial cancer, so I was very frightened. The more I googled post-injection bleeding however, the more I began to see this is NOT a fluke! I'm still waiting for the doc to get me in for an appt, but I'm much more convinced this has more to do with the cortisone than anything else.

The government has seen the complaints and is looking into them according to one study I read, but I don't know where I found that anymore. Let's just keep digging and making our doctors aware so they report this, no matter how much some of them don't want to hear it.

I think you should tell the gyn that you had the cortisone shot and ask if it could be related. I certainly would not let them do a d&c. Of course I am bias because of all the inadequate treatment I have received. I too got my period after menopause and I know it it related to the shots. They are powerful and not good for us in my opinion. Hope all is well by now.

This same thing just happened to me. I give up trying to convince doctors. They are in denial and not worth my energy. Thank you so much for posting it helps to read others experiences.. There is so much wrong with our medical system it is ridiculous. I will be long dead before they can begin to fix it as it is going to take several decades. I try to stay away from doctors as much as I can. I just keep learning the same lesson.

Well you wrote that over a year ago but I hope you didn't get all worried because this just happened to me and I know it was caused by the shots. I am NOT going to run around and have all kinds of tests. I a not even going to tell them because I know how they think. So, if by chance you are still out there and reading post notices, how did things go for you a year ago?

Guess what? this just happened to me and now I remember it happened b4 back in 2014 but I didn't put it together until now. I bled for a couple of weeks at least. Can't believe I didn't figure this out until now. UGH.

I'm six years post menopause and diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer in 2014. Last October 2016 I had a corticosteroid injection in my knee. In November I started bleeding, brown spotting at first but progressed to quite heavy bleeding. I was put on urgent care pathway and had hysteroscopy and D&C in December. They said I had polyps but biopsy showed no malignancy. Bleeding stopped. Big Relief. Then last week April 2017 I had another knee injection and within one week I am bleeding again. Heavily from the off this time and significant pain in ovaries or lower pelvis area anyway. I am back on the urgent care pathway and laughingly said to my partner, hey maybe its those knee injections haha ... did a google and found it's not such a crazy link after all. I will go ahead with the gynae appointment for investigations and will mention the injections to see what they say. Honestly, last time, by the time the bleeding and pain were sorted my knee pain was back so if there is a connection then the knee pain relief is just not worth it.

I had just one cortisone shot in the buttocks due to a fungal infection on my back that was itching unbearable and I also started bleeding maybe a week after but can't recall exactly. It never was real heavy and not more than a week after its start, it seems to be getting less each day but still some each day for over a week. The dermatologist said that can happen in teenage girls, but sounds like they are not that aware that it can happen in post-menopausal women. Went to the gyn and he seemed to think it could be related but wants me to have an ultrasound so next week... He mentioned a d&c if it's due to the lining of the uterus being thin (that didn't make sense to me if it is thin, but I'm not a dr. I will not do that if the ultrasound shows all is fine as far as any disease goes. I have had slight breakthru bleeding before twice, but only a little spotting on one day and that was it and didn't seem to be related to any meds but I may not have connected it as once had cortisone shot in one knee. The dermatologist said it should get less and less as the cortisone gets out of my system. At the time, I was also on meds for the fungal infection so I'm thinking for me who takes very little meds maybe it was even the combo.

I had a cortisone shot in my back today and within 2 minutes I felt this painful burning sensation between my legs in my uterus . That was 11:00 am now it's 10:40 pm and still feel a tingling, no burning! I'm 61 what's happening?

Just received a cortisone shot Tuesday. Bleeding began Friday. I’ve been Post-menopausal for 7 years now, without any gynecological problems prior.
Don’t freak ladies. Gonna be okay. As long as you are not hemmoraging, you can rest assured, it’s only from the shot!

This is so surprising. I am 57, post-menopausal for 4 years. 2 weeks ago I had unexpected, bright-red spotting for about a week and my GP referred me to a Gun to investigate. She did both a pap smear and a painful endometrial biopsy. However, she was interested to hear that I had a first-ever cortisone shot for my arthritic knee 1 month ago. She explained that could have possibly triggered it. Orthopedists should warn female patients of this possible side effect! Not doing so for a post-menopausal woman is alarming and may lead to invasive testing.

I am 66, went into menopause 10 years ago and use Estradiol patch and on compounded Progesterone. Two years ago I started bleeding quite heavy. OBGYN wanted to do a biopsy and a full hysterectomy. After much research, I opted for a DNC but was told if I bled again a full hysterectomy would take place. I had never had an issue in the past. After the DNC everything has been fine since. They found some small uterine polys when they did the pathology report. I have a steroid shot 2 weeks ago for a rash I developed on my arm after a trip to ASIA. Today I started getting cramps and not spotting but, there is brownish stain on the paper after I void.

I'm 58, and have not had a period for 12 years, and now I'm bleeding every month. I have had a D&C and nothing abnormal. My GYN is suggesting a hysterectomy if the bleeding continues. What do you recommend?

I had steriod injections in both knees about 6 weeks ago. After about 10 days, I started spotting, which turned in to a very light 9 day period. Since then, I have spotted off an on. It will stop for a few days, and then I'll spot for a few days. Like many of you, my doctor said its not normal and has put in a referral for me to see an ob/gyn. Has anyone else experienced off and on spotting like this, or was it just a one time thing and then it stopped?
