I know this was a year ago but if she is getting the cortisone shots again, I have a prescription from the same doctor giving the cortisone shots (consult your doctor on what to use). I also found out that my tens unit works very good on my leg cramps. I have been going through this for over 8 years and just discovered the tens unit works after having it for 9 months.

I had a shot wed in my foot and am steering from severe cramping in my calve
Magnesium in liquid form applied directly to the areas cramping helped me
I haven’t tried this personally but def will next time I get leg cramps. People swear by eating pickles- drinking pickle juice. I have recently met countless people that say the cramps go away almost immediately! Figured I’d share in case it helps anyone
I have leg pain in my calve after i had a cortizone injection in my knee
Are you still suffering
I got a cordisone shot in my butt for an autoimmune for a leg ulcer & I’ve been having terrible leg cramps. I’ve always had leg cramps but these are different! These are in my feet, ankles, toes, calf’s, arms & even my fingers are locking up. Today I got 2 more shots 1 in each butt & I’m still awake fighting with toe cramps, right calf, left arm & fingers tonight! This is crazy...It’s got to come from this! Anybody else out there?
I had a steroid injection for my back and had the same thing. These are not normal cramps!! The only thing that has helped me is Theraworx. It comes in a bottle and you rub it on your legs & feet. It does help relieve the cramping. Hope you feel better.
I had two injections in my hip for bursitis. UNBELIEVABLE cramps and spasms all over my body but mainly in my feet and legs. REALLY bad in groin and thigh!! After doing the research online, low potassium is a side effect. Got about 2500mg of potassium in me from FOOD as soon as I saw low potassium was a side effect. ( tomato soup, yogurt, BOOST drink, nuts and bananas) Also have been drinking Pedialyte NO MORE CRAMPS and a good nights sleep for the first time in a MONTH!!!! You need 4700mg of potassium everyday!! The ENSURE and BOOST nutrient drinks have all the other electrolytes (calcium, magnesium etc) as well as the Pedialyte. Try this it worked for me.
I had 2 injections for hip busitis. UNBELIEVABLE cramps and spasms in my feet legs and other joints. LOW POTASSIUM is a side effect. I immediately started consuming high potassium foods along with Ensure nutrient drink and Pedialyte. BIG IMPROVEMENT!!!! I can sleep again!
I had one yesterday in my knee, 2hrs later I was just about in tears I was in so much pain!! Last night couldn’t sleep and this morning my upper arms and shoulders feel like I was lifting weights yesterday and my lower legs are super achey.
Those spasms are the worst, I'm learning to tell when they're coming. Unfortunately, I was recently diagnosed with MS which is the bottom line for my spasms and so much more!!!
it could be a side effect of the cortisone, either as you withdrawl from its effects, or as a result of mineral deficencies, such as Magnesium, calcuim and pottasium. These minerals can become deficent, as a result if taking steroids, although this to my knowledge occurs, after a longer peroid of time. More than 3wks on the drug. U gave repeated hand cramps myself, which I take tgese minerals for. Hope this is some help. Withdrawing from steroids after long time, will cause aches and pains. they will eventually subside.
Hey, I don’t know if you’ll see this because your post was over a year ago, but I have muscle cramps that would wake me up screaming and then I’d limp all day for a couple of days because my muscles were super sore, for a good 10 years (not every day, but occasionally) and then I removed gluten from my diet and it’s been 11 months and i swear I only get the muscle spasms when I accidentally have gluten now. It took maybe 3 weeks to start feeling the reduction and 6 months to feel 100%
