you may think this sounds crazy but it worked for me. Place a bar of Ivory soap under the bottom sheet by your lower legs. They say the magnesium in the soap helps control cramps.
Hi, I hve the same problem because of the cortisone injections. This is my 4th week in with this awful cramps in my arm. The only way to get sleep at night is a high dose of magnesium with pain pill before bed time. Hope it helps for you.
I also get bad cramps after cortizone injections and quinine in tonic water or capsule form is all that seems to help me.
Not true! Or the weirdest "coincidence " ever when it happens to me EVERY TIME
Try abstaining from alcohol, particularly after dinner, no nightcaps. Worked for me.
I am so happy that I found this webpage. My mother had knee injections a week ago and has been having painful cramps in her thighs and calves. They started a day after her injections and did not happen before that, so we made the connection between the injections and cramps. We called the ortho and either he is oblivious or in denial, but he insisted that steroid injections do not stop these cramps. We are at a loss and do not know what to do. For those who have experienced these cramps, how do we treat them and when do they go away?
Lack of estrogen during menopause cause all over body cramps too. My doc gave me a once a week patch and a vaginal suppository two x a week . Stopped the every nite cramps overnight. I still get charleyhorses in my calves sometimes, mainly when I’ve done a midnight shift
I'm going through exactly the same thing & was wondering if you found anything that helped? I see your post was a while ago & I'm desperate for help. TIA. Tracy
Exactly my case. I had cortisone trigger point shots last week. And I've never experience the amount of leg cramps throughout the night like what I am having. Hour after hour. And they seem to be worst then charly horse cramps because they are not just in my calfs. They are on my ankles and side of the foot. I stand up all day at work but this started happening three days after shots. No more shots for me.
I had my shot on Friday last week and I have been having the same issue, both calves are cramped up. I was also taking prednisone up until two days ago and the cramps started the day after I stopped.
I am so happy to have found these comments! I had a cortisone shot in my knee about 3 weeks ago. About 7 days ago I began having the most horrible cramps in both calves, both feet and both hands. All of these comments make perfect sense! Now, dealing with this horrible pain at night is just horrible. Sorry for other's pain, but glad that I am not losing my mind!
Well I found out that therefore really helps the legs not to be sore the next day maybe a little but not a lot. Or cost about 16.99 dollars but get the foam to me it works better than the spray. Hopes this helps
I got a Cortisone shot in my shoulder which helped a whole lot. I did have muscle cramps for two weeeks after! After the two weeks they went away.
I got 2 shots into my big toes. Now I can't run. I get cramps in my legs and hips. Never had cramps while running before.
Bingo; Ive had miserable cramp since I had injections in both knees. It’s agony, both toes standing up then gradually working it’s way up my calves front and back. It’s been hourly at night. I’m exhausted. I didn’t make the connection when I had the same problem after the last injections four months ago. It lasted for two months.
I got only minimal relief from the actual steroid so I won’t have them again.
