I've had two cortisone injections in my shoulder in the last five months due to a damaged bursa and I've gone from 11 stone 7 to 13 stone 2! I look really fat and can't fit into any of my clothes. How long does the weight gain last for and is there anything I can do other than diet, exercise etc to reduce the weight? Any advice would be much appreciated. I was never informed of the side effects of taking cortisone!

I had a steroid shot about a week ago and I notice my stomach starting bloating really badly and I've gained 4lbs within the last week. It just dawned on my that the steroid shot is why. I had these a few years ago for tennis elbow and gained 20lbs. I will get another steroid shot for anything!

I have had steroid shots several times over the course of my life (now 60.) I have only had a small bump in weight from the this last one of January this year, 2022. I have not really had any real trouble with weight gain when using steroid therapy injections. Mind you, I have never had more than three sets in a year. When you get them in your neck, they do a series of 3 injections over a several week period. I suggest being mindful of the increased appetite and up your activity levels accordingly. They have been a phenomenal help for me in pain reduction and quality of life improvement.

That’s a lot of weight to gain in the nose. My guess is your nose must be five times larger now than before
