Cracked,Dry,Scabbed Nipples and Im Not Breast Feeding

They are 14 how dumb are you to reply with this! Totally inapporpriate.

I am 13 years old and i just noticed the same thing. Im really scared but I am embarassed to tell someone. I hope it isnt anything bad :(

I replied a few pages back - I've stopped using the Bio-Oil and Viola! Delightfully normal nipples :)

Any of you out there who have used lotions which may have caused it - STOP!The longer you use the lotion, the worse it will get.Because I didn't stop using my Bio-Oil right away, I've got small scars on my nipples... Just a heads up - I do NOT reccommend Bio-Oil on breasts xD

I doctor suggested not even putting lotion on them to cure it as they were just too sore and could of made it even worse.I have found that using a moisturising lip balm like Nivea Lip Balms (not scented or flavoured) will do just as good as lotions but without the pain of rubbing it in.

Those of you aged 11-16; STOP WORRYING!Its puberty, your nipples expand just like your breasts, it will stop. But in the mean time - Vitamins and Lotion :)It will promote healthy breast and nipple developement and should stop some of the dryness.

I'm only 12 and i got a scakby dry thing on my left tit i spicked it off (hope that didnt make it worse!) but not its sore what should i do monst of yous are like 15 /14 / 18? x

Ok girls and ladies, yes the best treatment is Vasiline.  I'm 47 and I'm not nursing nor are the being overly sucked by anyone else. However according to my mothers Oncologist sometimes the nipples just become dry and irritated and that can cause the cracking and painful breast. Best solution is putting large amount of Vasiline over the nipple and cover with guaze and take Advil or Motrin for pain. Once healed you can continue to moisturize with Olive Oil or lanolin.

Throughout middle school through high school, the skin around both my nipples would be itchy and something peel off and yellow discharge would come out every time the skin came off. My mom told me she always heard me scratching at night so I assumed it was itchy and I was scratching it at night subconsciously. After years of agony I finally went to the doctors and they tested by discharge and they said it was nothing to be worried about. The doctor also recommended that I used cortizone at night to prevent itching and put lotion to keep it less dry. I think I did it that for only a week and it completely stopped itching and peeling off. And it was looked perfectly normal for the next 5 years. I am currently having a small patch of dry skin on my nipple but I think because I irritated by accident. So I recommend that you don't worry and try to use cortizone or any anti-itch cream and also a cream for dry, cracked skin like eucerin or cetaphil for a week and see if you get better. But definitely if it doesn't go see a doctor. Good Luck.

yeah mine i just noticed are cracking.. i have a small scab in it.. i was picking at it the other day cause i didnt know what it was. I showed my boyfriend & he said just dont worry abt it. So im just looking it up, i noticed alot of people say dont worry abt it. I just get nervous bc i dont know whats wrong lol but ill try the whole lotion thing.

There's nothing wrong with them. I'm 22 and I have had this problem a few times in the past. The issue can arise from them being too dry (try using a regular moisturizer on them), having worn an abrasive material over them (sometimes a new bra will cause it), or they were being 'attended' to fairly heavily by a lover. In most cases if you use a moisturizer on the nipples as you'd use chap-stick on your lips, they'll be perfectly fine. Even after they've scabbed over you can apply over-the-counter moisturizer to them. The only reason I'd worry is if they were leaking abnormal fluid (such as puss) or blood. In that case it would be a better idea to have them checked by your physician.

I just looked up dry skin on boob? And this is what I found,I am also 14...I do hope it's normal umm so yeah.

I am 11 and my nipples are sore and cracked eh. I dont have sex nore like to have people touch me or talk sexually around me %-) . Wht should I do because ? all of you guys are teens and say its nothing but im a addelesion. I AM VERY WORRIED! :-(

Hi looking at this thread on this site. you people really need to learn what the term helpful means. When someone post saying that they have the same problem that is not helping the original poster. So that means it was not a helpful post it took up space for a real answer that would have been helpful. so that actually makes it very unhelpful.

i'm 16 and my nipples can be very itchy sometimes, so much that it feels like i want to scratch them off almost!! then they can bleed a little, but not much and they scab over! i've used soap and glory body butter, which has helped a bit, but as soon as i stop using it, the problem occurs again! should i tell my mum, i'm a bit embarrassed?!

There is this product called Lanisoh made from lanolin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lanolin) which is designed specifically for dry, cracked nipples. A small bottle at the drug store costs about $10 or you can get just plain old lotion to soothe it. My nipples were dry and cracked because I live in a dry climate and they got scratched from my cat. The lanolin helps heal and protect your nipples. Hope I helped!
