I am 22 and had this attack first time about a week ago. Yesterday when I was facing it, I just diverted my mind to other things rather than thinking more about itch or the issues which were making me nervous, and it worked. The itch was gone temporarily but tonight I had to take a bath in chilly water to chase it away. It's hard to divert mind then I guess....but try it. Derma guy has no idea so we need to find a solution within,

I've been going thru the same exact thing for the last 15 yrs or so. Getting myself to sweat is excruciatingly painful. I've seen docs and they just don't get it. Have no clue what I'm talking about. If I'm not exercising regularly (sweating regularly) then that first sweat will be so insanely painful I cannot even describe it. I've told my wife before "When it hits, it hurts so bad that if I had a loaded gun I'd blow my brains out". That's how painful it is. And same as you, in the summer time I sweat with no problem. Once the cooler temps hit around October that's when my skin starts drying out and that's when I can no longer regulate my body temp due to sweating. Sometimes I get so hot I feel like I'm seconds away from passing out, then the needles pain hits, then it's all down hill until I can calm myself down to stop it.I've found two things help. One: exercise regularly. Sweating daily will help properly manage my sweat glands. Since it's difficult to exercise daily, it's tough to manage it this way. The 2nd way is to take hot baths at night before I go to bed. I load the bath up with moisturizing soaps and even lotions (yep, I put Cetaphil lotion right into the tub) and soak until I start to sweat. The painful prickles come, but they're very short lived. Once I start sweating pain free is when I get out of the tub. I'll then reapply Cetaphil lotion all over my body before getting into bed. Hope this helps.

Warm or hot water shower to open the pores and stretch your skin. Put on skin moisturizer especially the ones for dry skin. Then VASELINE massage all over your body. This works for me, no itch the whole day. Sometimes I bring those regular lip balm and use it on my arms or neck.
