I have been on Cymbalta for 4 years after trying numerous anti-depressants....always unable to tolerate the side effects. I was on 120 mgs for @ 3 mo. I had what everyone calls 'Brain-Zaps', sweating, shaking, hyper, NIGHTMARES and balance problems. I was dropped to 90mg. without noticing any problem. Eventually all symptoms faded except the balance and the sweating. I attributed the balance problem to my neuropathology and the heat to age. I have been on 90mg. for 3 + years.
I thought that I had the flu @ 2 mo. ago, and it wouldn't go away. I made a trip to the E.R. thinking that I must have pneumonia....but I didn't.
I have had 'Hep.C' for aprox. 40 years. I was a phlebotomist / med tech. from '79-'84. 'Hep. C' and 'AIDS' were not diagnosed back then. I knew about this when I went to the E.R. (I am geno type 1a, stage 3 bridging cirrhosis) I had just assumed that all of my bad feelings were because of the 'Hep.C'. The E.R. doctor asked me," if I knew that I was taking one of THE WORST drugs having stage 3 liver disease and I get off of it....AND he said that Cymbalta was one of the hardest drugs to withdraw from"! :-S
None of my doctors ; Primary, Gastro-ent.Liver) Pysch. or even The Mayo Clinic EVER mentioned the Cymbalta that I was taking.
So Cymbalta has just been helping me along to a premature death. How could I know? o.O
Thanks to the E.R. doctor
I reduced my dosage from 90mg.-60mg. in 2 wks., and it was hell. That's how I found this website, looking for help. (Thanks to everyone who posted
Cymbalta problems & research).
I am on day 4 of tapering down 7 granules per day from a 60 mg. cap. (Thanks Mike:U-NEED-acetycholine, where-ever u r)!
So far So good, but I will keep posting to show my results with this...good or bad. It might help someone else. That would be great. :-)

Kat,
My son-in-law committed suicide while taking Cymbalta. The most dangerous times to be on the drug are starting and stopping this drug. I agree with what the ER doctor said. This stuff shouldn't be on the market. Just please be careful withdrawing. I am trying to set up a national website where people like yourselves can go to carefully detox. At the moment I don't think such a website exists. You are correct, most doctors are ill-informed about these psychotropics. It is a shame. It is all about the money the pharmaceutical companies are making at the public's expense. I hope you have family around you that are aware about what you are doing. They should be made aware so they can help should you find yourself thinking strange thoughts, etc. The best of luck to you.
