Darks spots on chin area

hi, I have a similar problem. I've had had such dark spots for over a year now. I visited a skin specialist, and he told me that layers of dead cells have deposited, giving it the darker look. He advised me to use a cream, Reviderm, but that made my skin in chin area super dry and chappy- and the dark skin color is still there. Usually skin treatments take time to show results and I'm wondering if this heightened dryness is the way the cream works. If I'd see some improvements later on, I'd definitely let you know. But in the meantime, do visit some skin specialist/dermatologist.
