Having that same pain also and it's killing me

I have pain in my intestines right after moving my bowels, it's intense and lasts for hours. I also get a rash on my back( not celiac), I've been tested for everything, but still no answers. I take pain meds, and suppositories, they don't make the pain go away. I'm very depressed, this has been going on for over 3 years. Anyone have suggestions?

Have you considered gluten intolerance or celiac. I had this pain and that's what it was.

Thanks, I've already been checked for them.

Its been almost 6 days of me not eating any food just out of fear of making any bowel movements. The pain in my rectum is so unbearable that I have decided to give up solid foods as a whole and I am just drinking vitamin water. If I can have my entire rectum removed, at this point I would, if I can have someone go ahead and break my T3- t4 vertebrae in my spine and make me parapalegic waist down so I don't have to feel anything I would. I can't take the pain anymore and painkillers make it worse with constipation. I have this burning pain right after bowel movement that an hour later becomes burning plus throbbing, then 2 hours later becomes throbbing, cramping, burning. I don't know what I did in my past life to deserve this agony. Anyhow long story/venting short, I really came here to ask if there's any place in the US where I can get euthanized?

I know exactly how you feel. See a colorectal surgeon if you can.

If you have knife like pain during a bowel movement, with or without pain for hours after, it is likely a fissure. They can be hard to see, and many general practitioners miss them or diagnose hemorrhoids - so see a colorectal specialist.

If you're having no pain during bms, but pain that starts soon after and may last for hours, you're likely having spasms of the internal anal sphincter. I had a fissure for two months, but even after every doctor said the fissure was healed, still had rectal spasms thatbwere very painful - a burning sensation from which I can get very little relief.

There ARE options to help this!!

First, you can try a topical cream such as nifedipine or nitroglycerin that can help relax the muscle.

Secondly, Botox is an option. They can inject it in the area to help the muscles relax. It has about a 50/50 chance of working, and in some cases can make things worse (causing hems and swelling without relaxation).

Finally, the gold standard is the lateral internal sphincteronomy. It is a very minor surgery (in and out of the hospital) where they make a small incision next to the anus, and make a small nick in the internal sphincter. This forces the muscle to relax, and has a very high rate of success (90% or more). A common worry is that this surgery will cause incontinence - but the chances of this are very very small and nothing to worry about. If you're having rectal spasms, your sphincter is TOO tight, so the surgery will just bring it to normal levels.

You can ask your doctor about a manometry test - this will test the pressure/tightness of your sphincter. If it is high, I would recommend considering the options above.

Additionally, you may want to see a pelvic floor physiotherapist - they can tell you where your tightness and pain is coming from and may be able to alleviate some.

In my 20s I had delayed pain after a bowel movement; it started about an hour after the BM and lasted for 6 to 8 hours. The pain was like knife stabs, excruciating, stressful. It totally hampered my lifestyle; I tried to time BMs until late at night (after work), but then I couldn't sleep for hours. I found myself delaying bowel movements and eating as little as possible (which made things worse). After a number of doctor visits, I was referred to a wonderful colo-rectal surgeon who diagnosed this as an anal fissure. It turns out that may family is prone to such fissures, and mine was exacerbated by not drinking enough plain water, causing constipation and hard stools. Topical creams didn't help. Finally, I underwent day surgery; the fissure was sewn up. I was healed within 6 weeks. That was over 22 years ago. I have been pain-free all these years, and am eternally grateful for that surgery! I continue to drink lots of water and eat fruits and veggies, and rarely have constipation. Freedom from pain totally changed my life! Please don't endure this excruciating condition -- see a colo-rectal surgeon and get a diagnosis. On the day of my surgery, I noticed that people of all ages were having the same surgery. You don't have to endure this pain! Take care. ~Alexandra

This sounds just like my pain!!! I have gone to 4 gastrointestinal doctors, colonoscopies, and tried many medications, nothing makes the pain stop. I've been trying to get a diagnosis for 4 years. I'll go again and check to see if I do have an fissure. Thanks for sharing your story!!!

I just wrote the longest note! And my Android lost it. Tens unit, pads on either side of back side hole, balance and pretty close. Leave on for an hour. Digital manipulation two fingers with obvious glove covers (cut fingers), and desitin round and round. MAGO 7 before bed at your level, clean out after BM on toilet with old cleaned enema bottle. This is not fun! Do not use cape aloe, this is when my problems got worse! This is all from being over dilated from hemmerroid banding in June. I will just keep dilating and the tens unit is the very best thing I ever purchased...this problem is completely debilitating!

I did go back, no fissure....dilate yourself. Told me this is not curable! Went to pelvic floor specialist, perfect muscles. All to do with sphincter being over dilated...via PCP, do ya think the Colo doc would admit to this? They should have you practice dilation before any type of surgery that requires dilation!!!!!

After reading all of everyone's problems again, I think I need that lateral tiny incision done to my internal spinchter, I even asked at last appointment...when he told me to do digital manipulation. Well that was over a month ago, I can actually feel the darn thing, it is like a very extreme rubber band and it is not getting any looser? I did read on a GI site from Greece, they make all of their patients do manipulation rather than surgery for 10 minutes
2x per day, and it is 90% effective. Ok I am going to do this 2x per day, with desitin...or coconut oil. I was doing this with only one finger before Colo told me two fingers. I have also looked into anal dialators (watch out, some pretty odd stuff comes up). I think I might order one today, ....these doctors around here are useless...the only other Colo guy to go to I would have to switch medical groups, which I did for this one...I feel like I am a cow with a number. I just went on Medicare, you just have to read what makes sense and rely upon your own findings...sensible things with lots of back up. Like I was doing what the doc told me before I went back.

I have no pain during bowel movement, but within an hour or so, I have severe rectal pain. Stools are loose. My pain may last for 4-6 hours. Only relief is warm bath, standing and sitting on a firm surface. It's driving me nuts!
