I am very concerned about my neighbor. There is a Native-American couple who live next door to me and their marriage is in trouble because the wife wants him to "straighten up, get a job and stop smoking that marijuana". When I saw him the other day he appeared depressed and anxious. His wife told me he has been "out of it" and inattentive to her at times. Once when they were in therapy and the therapist asked him a question, to his wife's horror, he was listening to the walls to see if they were sound proof because another therapist told on him. He seemed paranoid. Could these symptoms be the result of the marijuana, or could he have schizophrenia onset? Do you think he may have an Axis II disorder as well?

She says that she will leave him if he doesn’t, “straighten up, get a job, and stop smoking that marijuana”. The husband appears depressed and anxious, and tells you that he has not slept in days. The wife tells you that at times her husband seems, 'out-of-it' and inattentive. When you speak directly to the husband, he tells you that he was listening to see if your walls were sound proof, because “my other therapist lied and told on me”. The wife says that he is "just making this up as an excuse. He’s as normal as you and me”.
