Did you hear about dermatographism?

My son had dermatographism for the longest time, I at first thought it was an allergy to foods he was eating, so I cut a bunch of them out...it seemed to help and then he'd break out suddenly again. It was hard for him (he's only two) and he'd get hives everywhere, it was the worst when it would happen on the soles of his feet.....Anyway I went as far as taking him for the allergy scratch test (you can imagine that putting a 2 year old through this is NOT fun) and he was negative to everything. The allergy specialist saw him and told me it was dermagraphics. No known cause (viral), no known cure, Benadryl helped when he broke out, the doctor told me he had no idea when it would end either.

Eventually he stopped breaking out in hives. But it wasn't because we did anything differently.
