Hydrocodone causes me to breathe like that. I have to take Percocet instead. But I prefer not to take either of them as I really hate the way they make me feel. I'm alternating ibuprofen 800mg with Tylenol 1000mg and that is doing just fine with out all the scary effects of the narcs.

Today is a week since I’ve had my gallbladder removed due to gallstones and a gallbladder infection, laparoscopically. About 48 hours after my initial surgery with no complications, minimal pain, I start having sharp pains in the middle of my upper stomach, my left upper quadrant and I was having a very hard time breathing, and the pains would shoot up to my shoulders. Nothing I did could allow me and relief and norco wouldn’t even touch the pain and I couldn’t eat or drink because it would make the pain worse. I went back to er a second time- they said I had fluid in my belly-normal. Nothing else, told me it was post op pain, regardless of where the pain was located. I suffered another 48 hours before going to a different er a 3rd time, and they finally tell me that the fluid in my belly-which is normal- was causing inflammation to some sites in the abdomen where it was touched by surgical instruments or gloves hands or whatever. Basically, you guessed it, post op pain. I felt completely defeated, I felt like no one could give me the answers that I so desperately needed. I didnt even want any pain pills- it wasn’t helping the pain anyways, I just knew something was wrong. So I go home and I finally go ahead and take some aleve, an anti inflammatory, some diclofenac by prescription (also an anti inflammatory) and honestly, between shallow breathes, smoked a little bit of pot. I got an appetite back, I was able to breathe deeper (might have been from the breathing exercises I’d been doing) and eventually I was even able to sleep for long periods of time. Most of my symptoms are completely vanished, minimal pain and I feel incredible compared to the previous week. So for anyone having these complications after their laparoscopic cholecystectomy, I reccomend anti inflammatory and a little bit of pot. It helped more with the pain than the pain meds ever wished they could.

Same issue as everyone. The only thing that helps a little is laying on my back with a pillow uunder my knees. Im on day 5 after surgery and that's how you'll find me until this goes away.

This way very helpful! Thank you! 4 days post surgery and could not take deep breaths without a sharp terrible pain. Putting pressure where the gallbladder was is allowing be to take deeper breaths more comfortably!

I had laproscopic surgery about 22 days ago, within one week i begin to have involuntary breathing also. Now my breathing is feeling funny, but i'm having no pain in my chest. when i went back to the Dr. from my follow-up to have my staple remove he wasn't there the nurse removed the staples, so i didn't get a chance to explain about my breathing. I thank the Lord for bring me through surgery, so i know i'll be just fine. I just wanted to share my experience with the group.

I had my GB removal 3-11-20, exactly 1 month ago. I am still unable to breath easily, running is almost out of the question. I am short of breath, the pain is better, but it's frustration not being able to get enough oxygen into my lungs....that is what it feels like, I was told due to the fact that I am thin, I am having more pain with the muscles healing. I am a nurse and new there were risks to any surgery. I will call doc back and do breathing exercises...now I'm out of breath just doing simple things like laundry...sucks.

8 months after surgery, still having a pain in my stomach, shooting across the diaphragm and into my back. Seemed start and progressively continue after the gallbladder surgery. Can you tell me what the GI doc found or did to help you?

Thank you
