I used to have 'Alice In Wonderland' syndrome when I was a child, which is what you are describing. I noticed that it was so much worse when I was sick and had a temperature. For some reason, it never used to scare me, I just accepted that it happened when I was tired or sick. Once I started puberty, I never had it again.

-i find the best way for it to go is to go to the wall really close, maybe a foot away and it goes away slowly, its like if u focus on somthing really close up it works, i had it a lot when i was younger, i maybe get it now about every 3 years

It’s relieving to know that there others out there who have experienced the same thing as I. I always thought there was something wrong with me, but I guess it happens to many people. This happened to me much more as an adolescent than as an adult, with my last episode being over 2 years ago. Whenever this happened, I never found it frightening. I actually enjoyed the feeling of looking at something it appearing as if it were a million miles away. I hope you get better.

You are not a alone! I get the exact same and sometimes it does happen for a couple of years. Never known how to describe it so haven’t asked a professional. I have it now and like you I struggle to sleep.

Hi, I don’t know if you still look at these replies but I’m 17 years old and I’ve had this happen to me ever since I was a little girl. It usually happens to me at night when I’m getting really tired or if I’m especially overwhelmed. It used to happen a lot more frequently and I would cry but now I somewhat deal. Tonight it happened after writing a lab report, and it’s scary. It usually comes with a headache. It’s like my computer screen is really big and focused but when I look at my wall everything is far away yet so big and towering over me. It scares the sh*t out of me. I wish I knew what was causing this. I just don’t wanna be alone.

Wow can't believe loads of other people have this, thanks guys I'm not a freak, thank god for the internet, I get it a few times a year as well I think, always when I in bed, can't remember having it as a kid, think there was something but I couldn't articulate it. Anyway the only way I can get rid of it is if I go outside and stare at the sky or something really far away for about ten minutes And it goes away. Try that one if you haven't already and it works a treat

Wow, and I though I was the only one. I can force it to happen and sometimes it triggers by itself, normally if I’m reading and start to think about it, when I’m talking to someone for a long time (10-30 mins without looking away from their face). This started when I was 12 (6 years ago) it would happen when I was trying to go to sleep then it kicks in. I’ll tell me parent and they wouldn’t understand, I though this was just me, until now. I feel a bit more “normal”.
