Hi, I'm posting here because I'm honestly too embarrassed to bring this up anywhere else.
About three weeks ago, I started feeling under the weather. My dad had just had a nasty throat/ear/sinus bug, and I'd been in contact with him, so I figured I was fighting it off. We both tested negative for strep (on a rapid test) at that point, so I didn't worry about it. I went hiking with some friends in the snow a few days later... maybe not the best idea while fighting a bug.
I didn't feel super sick, but for the next two weeks, I was oddly tired and anxious, and I started having the weirdest gastric reflux issues (never had that before.) Then, last week, I got shaky, feverish, and my throat hurt - classic. Sure enough, this time I tested positive for strep.
I went on z-pack, but when I finished those, I wasn't feeling better. The worst symptom was fatigue. My doc switched me to clindamycin. I'm in the middle of that course, and I feel mostly better... But not completely. Some things still just feel off. I'm still more tired than normal. My ears are clogged, and my jaw feels tender. I'm still having heartburn and burping constantly, which is a bizarre issue I've never had. I've noticed I'm thirstier than normal and my palms and feet are swesting. When I take my temp, it's usually around 98.5. It's an axillary thermometer, though, and I've heard you're supposed to add a degree to that... Should I consider it a fever?
I feel like none of my symptoms are extreme enough to make a doctor listen, and maybe it is all anxiety - I am pretty stressed about school at the moment, and I do tend to overanalyze my health. But what if my initial illness two weeks ago was strep, I got a false negative, and I'm now experiencing complications?
I guess I'd just love to know what someone else would do in my situation. Maybe I just need to calm down!!
