I take the generic form of Yaz birth control called Loryna. This entire month has been hectic since I'm getting ready to move out into my own place (finally), and I noticed that I missed a few pills in the first week of the pill pack. I assume that was due to the amount of exams I had that week and packing to get ready. I just took a two pills when I noticed and didn't think anything of it. I assumed I was of course unprotected and planned ahead to use back up anytime the boyfriend and I got intimate. I continued the pack taking pills regularly for 6 days before anything sexual happened.Well, we got intimate around February 23rd and when things settled down we realized the condom slipped. As if that wasn't enough to make me panic, I looked at the period tracker on my phone and noticed that if my birth control had failed and I ovulated, that was likely the weekend/day it was going to happen. Cue panic mode. The next day I went to the pharmacy and purchased Plan B One Step. I took the pill roughly 10-12 hours after the incident. The next day, I continued my normal birth control because the pharmacist said I could. It's been about a week since taking Plan B and today I noticed a little bit of pink discharge when I wiped after going to the bathroom. I've also had a little bit of a lower back ache and some mild cramping. I still have 5 days of active birth control pills left and 4 of inactive so I highly doubt it is my period unless the Plan B is overriding that. (I talked to my cousin who had taken Plan B before when she found out her husband was deploying and she told me to prepare for a few whacked out cycles, so I'm not overruling that it could be overriding my birth control). What has me nervous is reading everything about implantation bleeding as this would be roughly 9 days after intercourse. I also know that implantation isn't as common as people believe it to be.
For all I know I get these symptoms every month a week before my period and I'm only noticing them now because I'm paranoid. I just need a slight reassurance here. It's just that I'm confused because in reading the pamphlet it said it can alter the uterine lining so the egg may not attach if in chance it was fertilized yet these forums and articles are saying that if you take Plan B on or after the day you ovulated, you're not protected and you'll become pregnant anyway. Should I be freaking out as much as I am right now? Do you think it's just the Plan B altering my cycle? Has anyone else experienced this?
