Hello, i have had an ear infection since Monday it is now Friday it has now gone to my other ear aswel and it is extremely painful i was on amoxicilin but it hadn't touched my infection so im now on flucloxacillin, they took swabs but i won't get the results till the following Wednesday, surely i won't still be in agony till then? It has eased in the original ear but still in pain with the other ear please help its so painful.

If you haven't already add ibuprofen and a hot water bottle to get through the night. Then in am call the doc and tell him the second ear is involved and doesn't seem rot be responding. I'm curious about the ear swabs, inner ear infections caused by bacteria can't be swabbed as the infection is behind the ear drum unless it has ruptured. If the infection is due to swimmers ear that's on the outside off the ear and can be easily seen and diagnosed, the treatment is ear drops and its a fungal infection.
