I had a mammogram in May 2016 I have what appears a small red line looks like a vein but when I touch it it feels like a nerve exposed it is uncomfortable when I rub my finger over it there Is no lumps or anything strange looking and sometimes my breast hurts did the mammogram damage a vein or nerve what can I do to reduce the irritation until I can get a ultra sound

I agree wholeheartedly. I am in pain now from a second, closer look at the right breast 8 days ago. I had to apply an ice pack last night but the pain is back with a vengeance this morning. I don't understand why, after billions and billions of dollars have been donated for "research", a simpler, less painful test hasn't been developed. Yet PP has benefited and who knows where else the funds have gone.

I just had this happen yesterday. My breast tissue is still recovering from radiation and the technician was too aggressive. I too have about a 4" tear under my breast. It is almost impossible to wear a bra as it is very painful. It is very hard to dress the wound because of where it is. You would think they would be more careful. Especially with radiation damaged skin

I had my first, at age 55 last week, a tuesday. I am very small, the tech had to grab and stretch my AAA's on the platform. I have since, been experiencing very painful nerve pulses, sporadic and painful in my upper chest muscles. Literally thought I was suffering heart attack (did have a panic attack) symptoms, then remembered..."hey, you just had your ta tas stretched outside of your body, probably nerve damage". Still not sure but I know this much, NO MORE MAMAGRAMS for me

I just had this happen to me so I thought I would see if it has happened to others. I think it is a lot excessive to rip ones breast from their body!!

Awful Experience during yearly Mammogram...I've been having yearly mammograms since I was 27...I am 54. I had a needle aspiration for a cyst and have always had minimal pain with my mammograms. I have always had wonderful, empathetic tech's that are patient and kind...good experience with minimal sometimes, no pain. This week I had the most horrific experience! My tech was cold and flat in personality. I'm an outgoing person and was friendly but didn't get a happy person. I have no idea where the tech's from previous years mammograms were the day of my test. I was at a new location and thought that they stayed at the old location. The woman tech was cold from the get go and the first shot was soooo painful. I mentioned it to her and got no response...just relax your shoulders which I know to do. After the third painful shot I told her "I need to take a break", she replied "there's a chair over there". I paced with my head down trying to figure out how I was going to make it through another 5 pictures. She didn't talk to me or offer an comfort. I did the shots but complained each time and one time said "there has to be a better way, this is killing me" she said "not yet, and if you drink soda, eat chocolate that may be why your breasts hurt during this". I told her "I don't drink soda and eat minimal chocolate and it shouldn't hurt this bad" I got no response from her. When you are in the most unbelievable pain and have to hold your breath...it was unbelievable what I submitted myself to. It was finally over and she proceeded to tell me that the last three shots were not good because I didn't cooperate correctly with holding still and she would make note of that on my file for the radiologist. I was told I might need a retake...would know more in a week. I was then dismissed by her silence.
I took my gown off in the changing room and looked in the mirror and started to cry...my breasts looked like they had been battered...I dressed and left. I got to my car and fell apart...crying in pain and called my husband. I started talking to him in a controlled voice telling him what had just happened and then couldn't finish and fell apart again. He was furious I was subjected to this and tried to console me and told me to complain right away. I then called the facility's customer service and left a message. I then called my doctor who ordered the test and who I've known for 21 years...I spoke to his nurse who put me in touch with the nurse supervisor who took my account and then contacted the head of Radiology. I am presently waiting for a call from my Dr. I told the supervisor everything and told her how this was a horrific experience and I felt bad for anyone that came in after me, especially a woman who was having her first ever mammogram with this tech. Please ladies, if you have a bad experience contact your doctor and the radiology department. It shouldn't be a terrible experience. I told my close friends and female family what had happened and just last night at a family celebration my sister told me her boss had a mammogram at the place I go and she said she thought she had the same tech that I had. She said it was awful but she didn't complain. This tech may be very smart and good at radiology but her empathy, communications skills were non existent. I honestly think she used too much pressure on me. She needs to have more training or transferred somewhere else. So, how am I feeling? It's been 5 days and my breast get tingling on/off throughout the day and I feel like I have deep bruising inside my breasts. I honestly feel like I've had serious damage done. I called the nurse yesterday and she is sending a note to my doctor and said she'll follow up next week. I guess and hope it will take time and I'll have no lasting side effects. I have no idea how I will proceed in regards to my breast health next year but will be talking to my doctor and to other local facilities in my area...I want to be informed so that I never have this experience again. I have three daughters who I don't want to ever experience a bad mammogram!

"Excessive breast pain" is one of the more minor problems with mammography compared to the countless unnecessary mutilations and killings of women (read: 'Mammography Screening: Truth, Lies and Controversy' by Peter Gotzsche and 'The Mammogram Myth' by Rolf Hefti).
Contrary to the official narrative (which is based on medical business-fabricated pro-mammogram "scientific" data), there is marginal, if any, reliable evidence that mammography, both conventional and digital (3D), reduces mortality from breast cancer in a significant way in any age bracket but a lot of solid evidence shows the procedure does provide more serious harm than serious benefit (see above references).
Most women are fooled by the misleading medical mantra that early detection by mammography saves lives simply because the public has been fed ("educated" or rather brainwashed) with a very one-sided biased pro-mammogram set of information circulated by the big business of mainstream medicine. The above mentioned two independent investigative works show that early detection does not mean that there is less breast cancer mortality.
Because of this one-sided promotion and marketing of the test by the medical business, women have been obstructed from making an "informed choice" about its benefits and risks which have been inaccurately depicted by the medical industry, favoring their business interests.
Operating and reasoning based on this false body of information is the reason why very few women understand, for example, that a lot of breast cancer survivors are victims of harm instead of receivers of benefit. Therefore, almost all breast cancer "survivors" blindly repeat the official medical hype and nonsense.

Yes. I had a mammogram yesterday. I have 2 rips in my skin under the breast. They are bleeding. And they want to know why we dont get these done as often as we need them.

It is usually a radiology tech who does the exam. I have never seen an RN or LPN do them. It is a completely different career. Nurses are normally not trained to do imaging. Radiology techs are not trained to do nursing. That said, you are right about asking for a different tech if you are not comfortable with the care you receive. It is important that you know the name and title of the person(s) providing care. If you need to discuss anything that happened it is hard to track down the person involved without at least the correct profession. For instance, if a lab tech didn't were gloves or wash her/his hands before taking blood, and you start thinking that you should have reported it, then call to report it, but complain that, "The nurse didn't wash her hands or put on gloves when she gave me a shot Monday morning", it is highly unlikely that the tech would be taught about his/her infection control protocol. It also means an innocent nurse is falsely accused. That happens a lot.

My pain just started from a mammogram 4 days ago. The first time I got one the policy and lack of concern for privacy left me vowing to refuse further mammograms. I did for 5 years, but was finally pressured into going (to a different facility.) They treated me with respect, but the tech pulled my arm back at a bad angle and caused bursitis recurrence in my shoulder. The last one was 4 days ago. The tech was very kind, but the test was much more painful and now I hurt. I am glad to know it is not unusual to have the pain....and I would rather that than the way they treated the women at Mercy Memorial in Monroe, MI!
