Same thing with me, the only thing that helps is heat and Vicodin. It's making me very irritable, I can't stand anything brushing up against me.

Since my injury from a mammogram happened 2 years ago, I have figured out a few things that seem to make it worse.
I don't have pain everyday but more often then not.
A tight bra hurts so I have found that a sports bra works or if home I go without. When I do any heavy lifting this effects the pectoral muscles and I usually suffer after. So I am trying to stay in shape with lighter weights. I previously did kickboxing but the hitting of the bag, creates pain so that's off limits now except for the kicking part.
Certain foods enhance my pain such as alcohol or too much caffeine.
I meditate and do yoga, some poses are too much and I feel it the next day so I pick and chose what works and what doesn't.
When my pain gets bad, I use a heating pad and I take ibuprofen.

I had a mammogram almost 2 years ago and I have never been the same. My left breast blew up, my nipple about 1" big and I utter pain. This has been going on ever since. After going to numerous doctors and no one even suggested damage.. they just shrugged and said that they didn't know what it was. I recently went to another breast specialist who recommended Lotramin for my nipple.. she thought maybe I had a fungal infection and I have to say.. it worked!!! I got my breast back! But now I am PMS and the pain as started all over again. Shooting pain in my nipple, sore breast, pain in my back.. it is just awful!!!!!!

I have a friend who is 92 and she lost her daughter in her 40's to breast cancer it was caught to late she was a nurse.
The lady concerned has already had a breast removed 25 years ago and had chemotherapy, it has came back in her other breast and off she trots for her chemotherapy regularly I think it's weekly, now her answer to people saying I'm not going back its too sore is very arrogant it's not about you they can deal with breast cancer with the treatments it's the people you leave behind.
The reason I have posted my husband has had cancer twice in 14 years the first time in his superior Veena cava they opened him from just above his penis all the way to his nipple height and they removed a cricket ball size tumour and they took his vein from his left leg to replace the vans cava, last year he developed cancer in the back of his tongue and it was all the way to his voice box, he had chemotherapy and radiotherapy with him being diabetic they had a terrible time trying to feed him he could not swallow in case it went down the wrong hole so it was a nasal tube into his stomach. He fought this gets 3 monthly check ups suffered depression because of this and worried about me as I'm disabled and need to use my wheelchair. But . He wasn't worried about himself but he worried about me our kids and our grandkids please think again if your invite to get a mammogram go to be sore for a month but saving your life I know what I would choose and before anyone says it my husband doesn't smoke.

I am 48 years old, and had my annual mammogram yesterday. Today I'm experiencing SO much pain on the right side of my chest too! And, like you, it is very painful when I breathe. I don't know if a rib is bruised, or what it could be. If this pain does not improve soon, I'm going to call the mammography office.

Unfortunately I have had the same exaxt thing happen to me last year, tearing under both breasts. I'm very, very apprehensive about going back, I just received my reminder. UGH

I think that is a ridiculous comment! Why would you not get another mammogram just because of a bit of breast pain?!
I would rather suffer a bit of breast pain, knowing that all is ok than die through ignorance and neglect! And to say most die with treatment anyway??? What a ludicrous comment!!!!

You don't know that much. They are destroying healthy breast tissue. Women are walking in with normal breasts and leaving with everlasting pain with their breasts disfigured and having cysts develop due to the impact and possible cancer. Do your research before you judge. What other test take a body part and smashes it to get an xray, the whole idea of it is barbaric.

To say you will never have another mammogram because of the pain you endured as a result, it so stupid. Early detection of breast cancer is huge. My mother and my sister had breast cancer survived. You obviously do not have correct information

I had my first mammogram two days ago and having severe pain in my left breast. It's swollen and about three times larger than my right. I placed a call to my Ob/Gyn to talk about it. This can't be normal! My right was slightly swollen, but holy cow! The left looks like a totally different breast. I've been awake since 4am with pain.

I have just had the same experience!! Yesterday I had the worst mammogram ever in my life. Yes I expected discomfort during the procedure as it never is easy having your breast so seriously squeezed but this time the pain was excruciating as if I was undergoing torture. The clinician had nothing kind or comforting to say to me and basically I felt she spoke to me with contempt. I cried out during the second part on my left breast screen as I couldn't help myself and she never asked me if I was okay, I am a very brave woman normally and can put up with real pain without complaining but this was unbearable.
I wondered if it was possible for her to use whatever pressure she fancied, depending on how she was feeling at that moment or that day!
The pain is still intense, both breasts are pulsing and stinging inside and even though I have been taking pain killers, I am going through waves of sickness from being so overcome with the agony.
What worries me now, is the damage that must have been done to my breast tissue for them both to still hurt so much after over 36 hours ?

Had a diagnostic mammogram on Friday of last week and was told the results on Tuesday. Now I'm waiting for a biopsy (one with needle and the other surgical). My point here is, before I had that mammogram I had no pain in my breast or underarm, but now I'm in agony and thus more worried than ever it could be cancer. Also have pain in left elbow which began around December 2016.
