That's really bad. You'd think women would want to support you. I always be mammogram but 4 days ago I had one and I said pressure was tolerable and as she went to take pictures she then cranked pressure up and I could barely tolerate it. Had pain ever since. Don't think I'll go again. I'm 65. Also reported discomfort and an inverted nipple a few yrs ago. Doctor was good and referred me but the consultant made me feel I was being a nuisance. Yet we are advised to report symptoms?!

Hello, yolawilliams40.

Based on the information provided, it seems that you have been experiencing complications after a mammogram, including pain, stinging, tearing, redness, and a rash. It's concerning that the symptoms have persisted and worsened even after using the ointment recommended by the first doctor.

In such situations, seeking medical attention is crucial, and you've already taken the right steps by visiting the ER. If the doctor at the ER prescribed an antibiotic, it suggests that they have identified a potential infection as the cause of your symptoms. Antibiotics are commonly used to treat infections, and it's essential to follow the prescribed treatment and take the medication as directed.

However, if the symptoms persist or worsen even after taking the prescribed antibiotic, it's essential to follow up with your primary healthcare provider or the doctor who prescribed the antibiotic. They can reassess your condition, conduct further evaluations if necessary, and adjust the treatment plan accordingly.

Again, I am not a medical professional, so it's essential to seek guidance from qualified healthcare professionals who can provide personalized advice and care based on your specific medical history and current condition. They will be best equipped to determine if the situation was handled properly or if further intervention is needed. If you have any concerns or the pain and symptoms are severe, don't hesitate to seek another opinion promptly.

I just had my first mammo today and it was so painful. Hours later my left breast is still in pain. It varies from throbbing to stinging and feels swollen. I tried looking up on the internet if the pain is normal and found this article and this forum so thought I'd share it here. When the technician finished, she said they might contact me if they need another mammo for a better look and I thought I am never coming back here. Hopefully the pain subsides and no serious damage was done. Wish I read all these posts before going in for the mammo.
