Excessive Mucus - A Slow Frustrating Death

Do you have Sjogerns too ? I'm disgusted and grossed out by what is going on with my sinuses ! I have very low production of saliva but when I eat here it comes in a thick yuck... sorry anyway I'm wanting answers too. Hope you find your solution and me too...

You sound very encouraging! I am writing on behalf of my friend is suffering with excessive mucous now for about 9 months. It causes her to be depressed since she has taken several rounds of every antibiotic made, and has had sinus surgery, to no avail. She sounds nasal, but has no pain or discomfort. Just excessive mucous that results in a terrible cough. She is beside herself and as her friend, I want to help.

I have been sick with thick mucus for over 1.5 years. My sinus have horrible pressure yet I can not get anything out when I blow my nose. I have to spit and the mucus is so thick it will not go down the drain. Now it has progressed to my stomach has severe gas, I am nauseated most of the time. I take a pill called bentil than only helps slightly. I now have problems most of the time. As for the scope down here they always put you to sleep to do a scope and I suggest you go to a gastrologist not an ent, as i went to an ent and then to gastrologist. They suspected gerd but is not. I have no polops in my nose.
I also now have pain in my lower back.
Please let me know what you found out. Google silent reflux / gerd disease. I found it when I put in all of my symptoms. It has a very long name that starts with a L good luck

My belief is that excess mucus production is caused due to an irritation to the body, whether that be from an allergen (food or environmental such as pet dander or pollen) or from a toxin (chemical exposure, mold etc.).

 

Water fasting can help clear this as can detoxing, but you can expect the symptoms to get worse before they clear. Once oyu have cleared the problem or seen some improvement it is imperative to avoid the trigger.

 

Dairy seems to be the major culprit for me, although I can tolerate butter and small amounts of cheese. Milk, yoghurt and ice cream all cause cold or flu like symptoms and huge amounts of mucus.

 

Cold drinks and foods also exaccerbate symptoms.

 

One day I will learn my lesson and stay permanently clear of them!

Nearly all diseases are related to what you eat. You eat junk and poison, you'll feel like it. Cut out ALL animal products especially dairy, and your problems will go away. Today's doctors work hand in hand with Pharmaceutical industry, that's where the money is, so I'll be very careful about trusting them completely. Remember, Mother Nature didn't make any mistakes. She gives you all you need for perfect health. Eat plant based foods, especially raw.

I'm reading all these posts and see null results.  I've had this issue for 5 years. I puke up about 30 gal of mucus a week.  Ive lost way to much muscle and body mass.  As what ive seen my doctors have tried various meds and I was on allergy shots aswell for 3 years.  So, if the issue is not allergy or GURD/acid reflux which can also cause this issue then what is it?  My issue started march 2008. Had a good job that was getting better.  Now going from one room to another can be a challenge.  What is this stuff?

Wow, much of my experiences mirror yours. My issue started March 2008. I've taken meds and allergy shots with little to zero effect. I posted at the end of this forum, page 5 i think of some things I go thru. Seems everyone has near same issues. This stuff for whatever reason it exists can be stressing. there has been days I can't eat anything. So my food is irrelevant because if it was a food allergy i wouldn't have these issues when i cannot eat. I also had strange anxiety attacks for a short time. They stopped but the sinus issue continues. Thank you for you story.

I was at wit's end with constant mucus production until I saw an EENT who noticed my vocal cords looked large and referred me to a speech pathologist who took a closer look at the cords and found I had "laryngeal pappilomatosis" -- viral growth on my vocal cords that my body was constantly trying to clear with mucus.  I had them removed with laser surgery, and I'm 1000% better.  I FEEL LIKE A NEW PERSON!  Make sure you rule this out, folks! :-)

Mucus plugs are a very serious and life-threatening issue with me.  I have subglottic stenosis, narrowing of my airway, due to Wegener's Granulomatosis.  Mucus will drain down and rather than move on, it sits and dries.  Thus causing a dangerous mucus plug.  My life-saving treatment is using Mucomyst with Albuterol in my nebulizer 3 - 4 times a day.  Though there is currently a shortage of this med, also called Acetylcysteine, in the US, it can be obtained from NorthwestPharmacy.com in Canada.  My pulmonologist faxed the prescription to them and I placed the order.  I pay up front and submit the claim to my insurance company who covers this med.  They tell me there is no surgery for this problem as it can make matters worse.  However, the Mucomyst, which is a mucolytic, breaks up the thick mucus plugs and I am able to breathe.  I have had a couple of instances where I nearly died before I had this med available.  Though my condition is more than just thick mucus buildup, I hope my information here will help someone, because this is such a scary thing, and I have not found any natural or alternative treatments for this problem.  The pill form NAC did not help me.  Best to all... I am trying so hard to find an answer for my father nobody can find an answer. He will sit in is chair and then all of the sudden he will get fluid in his throat and will start to gag and cough to clear it..and sometimes the cough is like his last breath it awful..his voice box is red from all the straining but we go MUSC in Charleston this month maybe they will know...im afraid one he wont catch his breath in time..

not to diappoint you but no cure so far, i have it for the last 42 years. excessive mucus produced in the nose, ok, but no body still has found a reason why, due to allergy or what else.but all the results are inconclusive every time for the last 15 years when i really started the medical remedy for this maladie i thought was normal and everybody is born with it .Sinus surgery done on me,culture test done, low frequency anode treatment done, antibiotics done but no treatment , i am as was since ever with post nasal drip. enjoying
