I also have this issue...in my microbiology class I swabbed the back of my throat to see what bacteria I had. I had a overgrowth of fungus . I looked it up and Candida albicans is more common now because of our foods we eat. Sugars are it's fuel and as long as it gets food it spreads. I am not sure if this is a problem you may have but I tried everything until I had to force my Dr to test me. Most Dr think it mainly occurs in people with low immune systems.

I am sorry to hear of your struggle and I hope you have found a way to help with your issues. I had similar issues for many years. I had sinus surgery, which didn't help. I was referred to a infectious disease doc who tries everything and prescribed drugs after drugs with only short term relieve. The only thing that has helped is a total change in my diet. I have cut out all dairy and gluten from my diet for over 2 years. This has helped and I finally feel healthy. My immune system is strong and do early get sick. Hope this helps.

My son developed same symptoms at 10. We think its a tic that often develops at this age and is very common. Weve gone through all tests also. I can tell you our neurologists told us to wait six months and see if it changes. it does change but often comes back. The throat clearing switch to nose snifelling, sometimes eye blinking. It does come and go and not sure if his excessive mucus is related because as with all these others who suffer, there seems to be no clear answer. Very frustrating for my son during sports or getting colds, excessive mucus until he throws up. Its just aweful to think people live with this their whole life. God forbid probably all the c**p in our air and food.

I have a 9 year old daughter that has excessive mucus in her mouth/throat. Every morning when she wakes up, she puts a washcloth in her mouth to wipe out any mucus she can and then gargles with salt water to try and break it up and spit it out. I have taken her to the doctor and they immediately dismiss it as allergies and throw her on the latest allergy drug their favorite rep has brought by. I am very interested in natural options. We have cut out dairy for over a week now with no change in symptoms.

My troubles started as a 16 yr. old kid. My mom took me to an ENT and he waterboarded me and came to no real conclusions(maybe seasonal allergies). I concluded that certainly a specialist would not kill me but I'm sure our prisoners in Iraq felt differently when a marine was doing the waterboarding. My early symptoms were more of a sore throat with excess mucus especially in the fall. Now at age 68 they are nearly constant/intermiitent especially in the morning. Excess mucus from nose and throat with gagging to the point of vomiting on occasion. it is truly disgusting to those I live with. Flonase seemed to help a little initially but not so much anymore. Now I have a new symptom not really a symptom except without much warning I cough up 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of yellow mucus somtimes its pretty thick. This has been a true nasty experience. I will now go and look up NAET. Good Luck All
