I've always had constant mucus build up since being a child where every morning I would be sniffly and sneeze the house down, throughout the day it would get better but it'd start all over again the next morning.  Then a doctor once prescribed me Avamys nasal spray due to allergy to dust-mite and this worked wonders. I've been using it once or twice every week and it keeps the nose mucus free.

Only in the past 2/3 months though I got really bad, constant mucus build up blowing my nose every 2 minutes (possible sinus infection) and was on 7/8 different medicines, none of which cleared it. After abt 9 days it eventually eased down alot but I still had the throaty mucus trail the whole time so it never fully cleared!

Now my sinuses is back working into overdrive, I've no idea what it is and I've been on antibiotics/nasal sprays etc. Nothing helps!

I did feel like constantly cleaning out my ears the past while so maybe I have an ear infection....but I do not/nor ever had any pain in my ears or sinuses. Thats the only issue I've had with the ears, just a feeling of needing to be cleaned out after every shower.

Can anyone relate to this? Could it be my ears?? No pain, no seepage.....

I really can't afford to pay another doctor for useless medication!!

Please help!!

I've been dealing with phlegm in my throat for a couple of years now and have found the thing that worked best for me was to go on a juicing fast. Actually, another thing that helped was to eat I diet from a program called "The Fat Flush".  Unfortunately, my self-control isn't always that great, and I slip and eat crappy foods which seems to be the biggest cause of phlegm for me.

Anyway, I decided to start a blog recently as well to share ideas, tips and research on getting rid of phlegm or figuring out what causes it.  I just posted a post that I think is kind of neat the other day with 10 recipes that should help reduce or relieve phlegm.  I would love it if you guys checked it out.  Hopefully it will help some people.

I have had this problem for about 6 years and it still remains uncomfortable as the first day. I have tried all the interventions, mentioned in the various posts: video camera in throat, steroids, nasal sprays, stomach acid reflux medication, allergy tests etc.

Has anyone tried any psychological approach? If so what are the results? My second question is can this lead to throat cancer? I have had sore throts on and off with little improvement with antibiotics,

I also have same problem with you all. It starting in February 2012,what I remember is I paint my room for a whole 2 weeks, then starting to get reaaly bad cough every night. First, I try to calm down by taking expectorant contain amonium chloride to get rid off sputum, but it didn't help , then I took ambroxol, help a little bit with less sputum but it continued every hour like I have to cough because sputum retain much in my throat. I already got chest X-ray , but all clean and good, only too much eusinofil in my blood, and seem like I asthma like syndrome. but stil havent found good remedies for my problem.

I have done research and found most people who have mucous problems have it because at some point in their lives they have damaged their nose with a knock or bumb or accident or they have a pre-consisting bent nose condition, anyway I think by getting your nose fixed you will have your cure, a friend of mine is deaf in one ear because she was dropped as a baby on her nose and she never knew her whole life until she went deaf in one year and was told that was the cause. I am in the same position as you and will get a op one day, please tell me your findings after the operation to fix your bent septum

I also have hearing problems, which Doc also reckons is related to my nose problems, and all will be fixed by the operation. I keep my fingers crossed, but I am on a waiting list so god knows how long this will take. In the mean time, the neil med nasal cleaner does help, I also use it to jet water down my throat to dislodge the mucas which helps. Invariably this makes me throw up, but I have found that throwing up is the best solution of all, not very nice I know, but I guess the stomach acid is able to get rid of the mucus where everything else fails.

I also have this problem and don't know wtf it is.... It doesn't bother me much, but I'm concerned because surely this isn't normal??? I have other issues with my throat as well, idk if that has anything to do with it. I've been told I have Acid Reflux but no one is sure. I'm going to be having an endoscopy soon to check out what's going on down there...

I have the same problem! I had a cold about 6 months ago and have had a constant thick mucus in the back of my throat ever since. My nose can be completely clear and yet my throat is still clogged! It makes no sense. After reading all these responses and seeing that nobody knows what it is or how to fix it I am worried that I'll just have to deal with it for the rest of my life. :-) It makes it so hard to keep fresh breath and sometimes even talk or breath.

Hi, I had an upper respiratory infection on New Years day, had the colored mucous, it it now clear and white, thick mucous. I am constantly coughing up this thick phlegm all day. I am feeling a lot better , did not take antibiotics. I am trying to fight this on my own. I am taking antihistamines, gargling with warm salt water, listerine, squeazing lemons and drinking that. Do you have any advice? Thank you

I have had the same problem I was sick a few days ago and now I have a lump in the back of my throat, I seem to have an excessive amount of mucus in my mouth and when I stand up I am very dizzy. I havn't had a solid meal for 2 days or eaten anything really. Would you suggest I go to a doctor? I am also drained of energy.

I had my septum straightened last year. It did NOT solve this problem. I'm very frustrated and angry and sick of the c**p in the back of my throat.

I can relate.  For several years now I have had lumps of green stuff in the back of my throat.  It slows my eating and drinking and especially pill taking.  I had the turbines in my nose trimmed and that helped my allergies, but not the post nasal drip.  I now use a sinus rinse once or twice a day.  It really is not painful and it helps somewhat.  It is unbelievable what I can get out of my sinus'.  You don't need a description.  But, that still does not get it out of my throat.  My ENT doctor says he cannot do any more for me and seems to think it is not an unbearable situation.  Which of course, it is.
