A close friend (age 75ish) had a tooth extracted. On that day he experienced extreme pain and neuropathy which has gone on for months. His doctors have done one back surgery (no relief), and a neck surgery is next. He has asked three doctors about the tooth extraction, and they dismiss it out of hand. I'm looking for a forum which might give a better answer. This problem is eating him up.

Hello,

In some cases, the pain may be a result of a dry socket, which occurs when the blood clot that forms after a tooth extraction becomes dislodged or dissolves before the wound has healed. This can cause intense pain in the socket and can spread to the surrounding areas of the face and head.

Other possible causes of extreme body pain after a tooth extraction include infection, nerve damage, or an allergic reaction to medication. These conditions can be very serious and require immediate medical attention.

It is recommended that you contact your dentist or oral surgeon as soon as possible to discuss your symptoms and receive appropriate treatment. They may prescribe pain medication or antibiotics, or recommend additional treatments to help alleviate your pain and address any underlying issues.
