This is my first post (sorry if it only goes to you as an email- I didn't understand any other way to post),..
I never knew other people had this similar extremely painful bloated stomach feeling with nasty achy back and overall BAD FEELING- well I used to get it regularly and since it hurt so bad and I never naturally purged, I would make myself( please know yourself and any issues related to this poor descision- for me I have always been fit and my now ex wife had issues that I can assure you- beauty takes care of itself- it doesn't form itself)- but the purge always took care of the entire problem. Sometimes , like tonight, it takes hours.... HERE'S MY ADVICE (And this works for me and is only hopefully informative to point you in a certain direction.... so everyone can know the source, I DO NOT SEE DOCTORS, wise women say I TAKE POOR CARE OF MYSELF {ie I do what works for me, not everyone} AND GENERALLY DO THINGS THE WAY RUGGED MEN DO THEM- with guts and self knowledge)
My pain came after eating burritos, coffee and icecream... Odd, I know but not compared to the frequency I used to eat these all in one night....
----I WOULD EAT TOO FAST AND NOT CHEW ENOUGH( tonight's culprit- not a bite all day and I scarfed a steak, shrimp, three chicken strips, two eggs, a salad, mashed potatoes, and a soda with my men's bible study group at Norms restr.)
-----THE COMBO OF HEAVY BREADS AND MILK (I believe most times I block my 'exit hole ' in my stomach, because the last purge - the one that restores vitality and ends the pain- typically has a glob of tortilla{burritos were my nemisis})
ON THAT NOTE- A FEW TIMES INSTEAD OF PURGING I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ( I assume) DISLODGE THE BLOCKING FOOD IN MY STOMACH BY SETTING 4-5 PILLOWS ON MY BED TO ELEVATE MY TORSO/HIPS ABOVE MY CHEST AND BY SWOOSHING AND EVEN VIOLENTLY BOUNCING MY HIPS/STOMACH AREA THE PAIN HAS STOPPED ALMOST IMMEDIATWLY AND WITHOUT NEED FOR A FORCED PURGE- ( I thought I was a genius but it doesn't always work- and I'm also not always strong enough to wiggle through the pain)
-----HOPE THAT HELPS!!! YEAH, ME NEVER EATING MY COMBO BASICALLY ELIMINATED THE PROBLEM EXCEPT TIMES WHEN I EAT LIKE AN ORPHAN AT AN ALL-U-CAN-EAT BUFFET (I was orphaned in case you think I just a jerk who randomly picks on poor hungry kids for no reason).
Ps- like I told my ex wife, I'd rather be with her obese and learning healthy ways to lose weight than be with her at 118lbs, knowing she was vomiting for self-image.... The irony. Girls- be great to your men, but treat yourselves even better- we learn more through acclaimation than you might think. GOBLESS

Firstly, when suffering that burning pain, a few almonds chewed well and swallowed really helped me.

I've had a few similar problems, but nothing as severe. Here are some things I've been looking into:

1.H.Pylori / Candida / Parasites - these can cause similar symptoms, and need very specific diet / treatment options. I think this means it's really hard to pinpoint the problem down to different foods which can be really confusing!

2. Lactose / gluten / autoimmune type allergies. Seems to me this can be genetic, but more likely caused by incorrect bacteria balances or damage to the internal lining of the gut.

3. Overworked pancreas / gall bladder / liver from a diet too rich in protein and fat. Enzymes and bile are crucial to processing your food.

4. Gallstones / Liver stones. There are cleanses available + some horrible(!) youtube videos showing how to get rid of these problems!

5. Not enough good bacteria. The lacto-bacteria in our guts account for much of our immune system function, and also breaking down foods and extracting nutrients and taking away rubbish. They are wiped out by antibiotics, fluoridated / chlorinated water, bad eating habits etc etc.

For anyone looking what route to take, seeing the Doctor is important to make sure it's nothing serious - but they won't be too open to some of the above suggestions. Most docs will give you drugs to block the symptoms - important if the pain is bad, but no good for long term relief, particularly if they are antibiotic or fluoride containing drugs. Perhaps find a Naturopath to help.

Good things to research:

- Pro-biotics - Get lots of lacto fermented foods into your diet - or a good pro-biotic supplement like Dr.Mercola's.

- Whole foods diet. Cut out all processed food. Try the nutritarian diet by Joel Fuhrman - he really knows his stuff.

- Juice fasting. I did a 10 day juice fast - felt really good. My digestive system felt rested and repaired, and it felt much more robust and 'solid'. Read up about it - you can work it into your daily life, unlike water fasting which is difficult, and needs Doctor supervision beyond 3 days. Having said that Dr Fuhrman has a great book all about water fasting with many amazing results.

It goes without saying that you should always get professional advice before making lifestyle changes. Either a sympathetic doctor, or a qualified naturopath.

Good luck and don't give up! There are people who have beaten these problems - just look on earth clinic...

Hello, I just read your post and have been there and done that...it is extremely painful to go through. What helped me and still does, is drinking hot water...as hot as can be. This relieves the pain. My question is WHY after 29 years of having my gallbladder removed do I still get these horrible pains when I eat certain foods. If I have an apple, clementine, wine, onions...these are some of the foods that I have had that have caused me pain in the last years. Doctors have sent me to have tests done and all seems to be fine. I have been taken to hospital emergency rooms..just to wait and wait...by the time the doc comes, the pain is usually gone, or I get better and leave. I have had ambulance technicians come to my house cause my children were worried as Im on the floor crying in pain. I have had two occasions that I was driving and I get an attack...once I could not pull over as I was on a highway! I don't know what causes this...I had my last one last week...not sure what I ate that caused it..I had homemade chicken soup...hot water and fingers down my throat to bring up the food helped...Im always drained physically after such an episode. No idea what the problem could be...Is it possible I lack a certain enzyme????

I have been having the same stomach pains. It only happens when I eat anything greasy or fried & on rare occasions anything spicy. I can't even eat a restaurant burger. (I really miss them) My pain will start about 1-2 hours after I eat and continue till around 3 or 4am. I don't have health insurance, but I finally broke down & went to the er. They ran tests but found zilch. They suggested the g.i. but without insurance I'm s.o.l. They did prescribe me dicyclomine for stomach spasms & this pill has helped me immensly. If the pain becomes intolerable, I take 1 & about 20 to 30min later, the pain is gone! I'm not sure what is actually causing my reaction to these foods, but I try to avoid them for the most part & so long as I do  I am perfectly fine. I really would like to find out what the problem is so I can eat my favorite foods again without torturing myself. Any ideas are welcome. Btw, not allergic to red meat. I can eat lean hamburger & steak if I cut the fat off...

I came to this site because I too have begun to experience problems in my stomach, with agonizing pain after eating, as though someone has my stomach in their fist and is squeezing it very tightly. I feel like allopathic doctors have only a few standard diagnoses for all gastro intestinal problems that often just don't fit the problem or cure it. So, I have a movie that I would recommend that everyone who is suffering see, and think about, and give feedback on it, to see if this might be the answer to why so many of us are suffering like this. It is called 'The Future of Food'. It is about the genetic modification of certain foods that we are eating, and that the animals we eat, are eating. These foods began to really take hold on farms in the mid 90's and now there are a few crops that are nearly 100% genetically modified (unless you buy organic). I saw this movie and began to buy all of these products organic, only. However, over time I became a little sloppy and a few times let myself eat items out of convenience, that were most definitely gm. I began to have symptoms within an hour after-symptoms that are shown in this movie to have been detected in animal studies of gm foods. This really scares me as most Americans are unaware that these foods are even on the market and that they are eating them every day or consuming them second hand through animal products. When you watch this movie make sure to watch the extras which include interviews with Michael Hanson, who works for Consumer Reports Magazine, which is responsible for teaching you about products and consumer safety. I was shocked by what he had to say. Did you know that these foods are banned in about 50 countries around the world, but are commonly in about 80% of all processed foods in the US? Has anyone on here heard about this yet? Most doctors are unaware, and there is no way to track this because gm foods are not being labeled. In animals they caused possibly irreversible gastro intestinal damage. If you watch this please let me know what you think of it. Health in the US is notoriously worse now than in other industrialized countries even though we spend more in health care dollars than they do. I believe this may be the reason why, and the companies producing these gm products are fighting intensely against labeling their products. When I was growing up allergies were few, but today there are so so many. These are some of the ways gm crops express themselves when ingested by humans-unexpected allergies. I recommend buying this movie and educating others, but if you cannot afford to it is available fto borrow or free at libraries. So, In Pain and in Need of Help, I feel your pain and would love to hear from you what you think of this movie if you decide to see it. How are you doing now? I pray for all of us that we would find healing and be able to help other sufferers. In the past I did use some techniques in the Body Ecology book by Donna Gates-that I thought had cured me-probiotics, kefir, green powders, but did not do everything she recommended. I eradicated the pain for 6 months. This time around I am still in pain non stop for the past 2 weeks and it is scary. I am going to try to do her whole program this time around. Wishing the best to all. Hope to hear back. I am doing everything I can to get these gm foods labeled by signing petitions and writing to congressmen, so that we at least have a choice to know what we are eating, though I really wish they would just go away altogether.

Omg. I have the exact same problem as you. Things that at green. Peppers, cucumbers, avocado ect. The only green vegs I can eat are spinach/lettuce, broccoli, and beans. I doubled over in intense pain 30 mins after I eat them. I always try to sleep after an "attack" usually because I'm mentally and physically exhausted. I've been to the hospital twice over it with no physiological explanation to be found. It sucks because new things are always popping up. :( I feel ya

OK I don't usually post on these things when I hunt them down on google but this one I felt I had to.. I did skip ahead a bit so I'm not sure if this has been brought up yet but I'll throw it out there anyways.

I had been suffering from all the same kinds of symptoms as many of you for the last 7 years or so.. Most times it would start up when I'd want to begin my 'healthy living' lifestyle and eat better foods, quit smoking, quit drinking pop and all that stuff. I guess you can all probably figure that the pain I was in was usually enough to drive me right back into my bad habits (a side strange note here: I almost never had any stomach pains as a smoker, regardless of what I ate.)

So years go by and I just dealt with the pain as it happened but it wasn't often enough for me to go see a doctor. Then this last year, I don't know if it was stress or chaos or poor eating habits or even the weight gain but the pains became much more frequent like every 2-3 days or so and I couldn't get them to stop with the usual tricks I had picked up. I finally went to see a doctor for it and after lots and lots of blood work was done, we ruled out the primary suspects (celiac's, crohn's, h.pylori) and determined I'm barely lactose intolerant and diagnosed me with an ulcer and prescribed treatment.

So I start my treatment of Nexium twice a day and taking tums anytime the pains would show up.. Weeks go by and I'm still in crazy amounts of pain and it didn't feel like the meds were working.. I started searching with google and found a few things (all natural) to try. Saw a site about histamine intolerance and realized I had found my answer. I originally tested the theory by eating a food that I know was a trigger then taking a half of a Benadryl tablet and waiting...... 40 minutes later the pain was gone. Next I tested the theory by taking the half tablet an hour before consuming the trigger food and experienced no pain!

I went to a natural food store here locally and asked if they had anything that was a natural antihistamine that wouldn't make me drowsy and was directed to a vitamin called: Quercetin 500 Plus. I have been taking this vitamin twice daily for a little over a month now and have not experienced any pains regardless of what I've eaten.

I hope this helps some of you, I know that not everyone has the same health issues but I hope that this makes a difference. I'd never heard of histamine intolerance and my doctor never brought it up so I'm assuming its not diagnosed often. Just be sure to talk to your doctor about anything you plan to try so they can work with you to find the best solution. :)

The symptoms described above are indicative of ESOPHAGEAL SPASM. Heartburn can sometimes trigger esophageal spasms, but the medications used to treat heartburn don't always prevent esophageal spasm from occurring. Belladona, a barbituate, can calm the smooth muscle spasms that are responsible for the crippling pain.

Esophageal spasms are not to be confused with nausea or acid reflux. They tend to radiate from the base of the esophagus, where there may be a palpable tender point in the breastbone area, to the mid or upper back. Episodes can last as long as 4 hours and may be intensified or triggered by stress. It can be hard to breath due to the intense pain and may even be confused with angina or heart attack.

To be safe, you should have a doctor rule out heart problems because cardiac issues, too, can manifest as what may seem like a stomach problem. Once GERD, heart, gallbladder and pancreatic problems are ruled out, esophageal spasms may be the culprit. Esophageal spasms are considered very rare and not every doctor will be familiar with them. Complicating matters, esophageal spasms may overlap or be confused with acid reflux. Avoiding processed meats, like hot dogs and sausage, may help lessen the frequency of attacks. Chocolate and tomatoes may be a trigger for heartburn or esophageal spasm, too. Avoid very hot, cold or spicy foods if you experience these symptoms. During an esophageal spasm, drinking room temperature water very slowly through a straw can help, in my experience.

Do you have stomach aches after eating tomatoes? Or is it just me because I just ate a lot of tomatoes and now my stomache hurts really bad.
