Hello. Not a native English speaker, so excuse my typos.

I had very similar symptoms to my left side ribs.
Turned out its just that i have some problems with my ribs/chest, back and general posture. I have some hypermobility, that causes these problems in the first place.
I had a surgery to my right shoulder. After that I used too much left hand and had to carry my right hand with a sling. Made my body twist just a little and lean to left. After this the symptoms got so bad that I went to a doctor, who could not really tell what was wrong, but assumed it had to do something with my posture changing after the surgery. Had a physiotherapist check me and tell me that it actually was the case.
I was told that if not taken care of, these problems can lead to other more severe problems as the body reacts to the pain and pressure. I think one of the possibilities if this was not taken care was tietze syndrome (I suggest you look it up from wikipedia). Basically the problems stays the same, but the pain can get intolerable after time, to the point where even just breathing can hurt, and it gets harder to deal with.

My symptoms where a feeling of pressure, like a bubble, under my left side ribs. Sometimes I could feel something soft moving where my ribs end, like the bubble would have moved little right from under my ribs when I inhaled and back under when my ribcage squeezed back. A little pain sometimes, but mostly just the feeling of pressure. Lying straight would make the feeling ease a bit, but not go away. The feeling usually started without any obvious reason and stopped the same way. Sometimes a week went by without anything.
I'm athletic, young, nonsmoking and use very little alcohol. I'm not overweight even my diet is not too healthy all the time.

So don't be afraid, it CAN be something as little as this. Its easy to deal with (stretching etc.), if you act soon enough for the pain not to get too bad. If you do believe this could be the issue with you, I suggest you just get someone with a good understanding of anatomy to check you, and ask if this could be the case.

So I had stomach pains for abt 8 months on and off. Went to an Urgent Care they told me to take Prilosec or something like that. There was nothing they could really do. So I never mentioned it but when I would bend down for a minute or so and then come back up it was like something was moving back in to place. It was the weirdest thing. And I never said anything to the Dr cuz they would of probably thought I was crazy. So anyways I decided to go to the Dr in November she sent me for an Ultrasound and they saw Gallstones. They took out my gallbladder and There were 23 gallstones. The Dr was like why did you wait so long. Anyways now when I bend over I don't have the feeling like something is going back into place. So I'm wondering was it a sack of stones moving back in to place.

Okay - I keep seeing the same thing over and over - lots of the same symptoms.

Has anyone been diagnosed successfully? What has your diagnosis been? I'm eager to hear!

Thanks so much!

Hello, I'm checking to see if the user from this past year who stated she might have a Diaphragmatic hernia, ever got diagnosed. About 7 years ago when working out at the gym, I had a bulge that came out right below my right rib cage. It was hard, but didn't hurt. Since then it has gotten progressively worse and is very painful. The bulge still protrudes in the same area, but the hardness and pain intensity now goes up between my rib cage and sometimes mid-belly. It feels like it pushes on my lungs. I, too, stretch upwards to try to relieve the pain until the bulge slowly goes away. Depending on intensity, it can take my breath away and make me dizzy, and make me sore for hours afterwards. It normally happens when I bend to tie my shoes, am working in the garden, washing floors on hands and knees, or having a bowel movement. I had a ct scan, ultra sound, barium study, and colonoscopy but there was nothing wrong. The surgeon said I have no muscle tears that relate to a hernia and it must be a muscle spasm.

If the past user or any others have further medical evaluation, the information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I know just how you all feel. I have this lump (although I can't feel it) that when I sit down pushes up under my right rib. I am a little over weight and have several things wrong with me. Diabetes 2, one large gallstone, Hiatus Hernia and acid reflux. I have had blood tests and they have all come back negative. My doctor doesn't seem unduely worried and she knows that I am scared stiff of hospitals so wouldn't go unless a matter of life and death. I have read your blogs and they have given me some comfort. Although there doesn't seem to be any newer ones, or updates. Has anyone got any answers?

Same issue here... worse when I sit at the computer, or just sit for a long period of time... I do have poor posture.  Internal doctor thought a muscle pull...wanted to try ALEVE for a few days...if symptoms worsened then Catscan... I went to urgent care a few days later...Blood tests, Ultrasound CT scan showed nothing...was given meds for irritable bowel in case it was that... meds do nothing!!!  Some days are worse than others... some days it feels like a muscle pull...but then that bubble or "thing" feels like it there... bizarre...scared to death that something just hasn't been seen.  Was told to follow up with gastro specialist...3 months later, haven't followed up, I am scared...I know those gastros love colonoscopies and I am not ready for one!!!

Hi I feel for you. I still have the same problem and I too are worried. Thought of liver and kidneys but after blood tests came back negative then I have to dismiss that. Some times it feels bigger than other times, I am so confused that my mind gets into a spin. I do think however that we must calm down and be thoughtful about this. I worry about it being serious but it does go down at times and then at other times reappears. Is that what happens to you? I think that if it were really serious it wouldnt go away. Or is that just me being hopeful? I wont go back to my doctor unless things take a turn for the worse so I suppose I have to put up with it! Please keep in touch and take comfort in the fact that it seems to be quite common.

I have the same feeling. I feel the palpatation under the ribs on my right hand side just now as I write. Doctors are clueless and they say everything is perfect since there is nothing wrong in the blood tests or ultrasound reports. I asked them to re-check the kidney and liver but they insist that everything is ok. I advise you all to log on to youtube and look for "Liver Cleansing" videos. Try the olive oil and grape fruit juice mixture a couple of times and I hope it helps. Let me warn you that its a home remedy and causes severe diarrhea. Works for some and doesn't works for some. It helps flush the gall stones and cleanses the liver too.

Hope this information helps. God bless you all.

Hello All! I have had the same feeling for a few months now. It started as just a feeling of something just below my right rib, but as of last night, it has become tender to the touch. It feels like it is bigger now, but yet I can not visibly see it from the outside of my body. I can feel it the most when I am sitting down or bending over. I am actually in the waiting room of the Urgent Care right now because I am a little freaked out. After seeing the doctor, I will post my diagnosis. Hope all are well. Please post any new information.

I also am having this same problem. I have a feeling like a bubble down below my right rib cage. I notice it especially when I'm sitting, particularly with bad posture. This bubble does seem to come and go. I usually feel it more after I've eaten a big meal and sometimes it goes away after I take a leak.

I also have the muscle tension in between my shoulder blades and it's just on the right side so I think it's related. I've had this muscle tension for a long time already, maybe two or three years but it seems worse lately. I'm completely off caffeine and sugar now and eating a very healthy diet so I can't figure out why I have this muscle tension problem. Could it possibly be unrelated, maybe be repetitive stress disorder related to working at a computer and "driving" a mouse all day with my right hand?

I haven't been to see any doctor about this problem. I don't think my family doctor wouldn't be much help anyway.

I too am wondering what all the other posters have found out. I suspect most of them are still living with this condition off and on or else it has went away.

I wonder if it might be a gallstone problem. However, I really don't ever have pain with it. I guess I did have pain once or twice recently but it wasn't very bad and it wasn't after eating fatty foods either. I actually thought maybe it was a problem with my intestines but now I'm starting to think that it probably isn't.

I have the same problem. When I sit at the computer, bend over, or sometimes even when standing it feels like there is an extra "mass" under and behind my lowest left rib. I had a CAT scan, (paid for without insurance, OUCH) and it showed nothing. I was sent to consult with a surgeon. She said it must be an inflamation of the cartlidge in the ribs and gave me the bums rush. I've had it for 2 years. Wish someone could shed some light on it.

I wish the people who say they'll come back and tell us their test results and/or their diagnosis would actually do it! Why say you're going to report back if you don't mean it? Ayway, I have the same feeling of something there, under my ribcage on the right side. I also have pain if I press on the spot, plus pain along the right side and sometimes pain in my back. I went tot the doctor some weeks ago and he examined me and took blood to test my liver function, though he also said he thought it could be muscular. My blood tests were clear and after a week or two the pain went away. Then after a couple of weeks pain-free, the pain and the feeling of something there came back again. It doesn't seem to be affected by what I eat and I have no nausea or other symptoms. The pain gets worse, especially in my side and back, when I walk or do housework. The feeling of something under my ribs comes and goes and it's tender to touch. If my symptoms don't improve by next week I'll be going back to the doctor and insist on being sent for some tests. I don't think it's stomach related as I had an endoscopy a few months ago to have my esophageal stricture dilated, and I was told my esophagus, stomach and duodenum were all in good shape (apart from my stricture which I've had for years). I guess it must be gallbladder, muscular or something to do with my ribs, but which it is is anyone's guess. I was reading about slipping rib syndrome and wonder if it could be something like that, but I just don't know. If I do visit the doctor again and get any tests or useful information I'll definitely come back here and tell you all about it. Thats a promise - as soon as I post this I'll bookmark the site so I can find it again. Best of luck to anyone with these problems, it's not much fun to have unexplained symptoms.

Hi just thought I would check in again. I am no futher with finding an answer to this problem but I dont think it can be anything serious. My doctor has said that she thinks its muscular. I, on the other hand, think its got something to do with the gallstone. I have 1 large one which I will, at one point, have removed. I am scared stiff of hospitals so I will have to really feel that its time to do something about it before I go in.

I have no pain but still feel it pushing under my right rib. Sometimes it feels bigger than others. All my blood tests were clear (I have them done regularly as I have diabetes), so I am just leaving well alone for now. Hope everyone else is OK.

I am in the same boat as all of you. I have had my gallbladder removed about 3 years ago. The symptons stop up until about 4 months ago. I feel like there is a fist up under my right rib cage. I have gained weight over the last year as well. My doctor thinks its a pulled muscle, I'm not with him on that. This was the reason they took my gallbladder in the first place. Now what, I need a new answer.

Yes I know how you feel. I have not had my gall stone out yet. It is just one big one not a lot of little ones. I just dont understand what this could be but it seems that there an awful lot of us so whatever it is quite common. I have decided not to worry about it at the moment, I dont get pain just the feeling of a lump or something pushing up under my ribs. Why always the right side? I too need to loose some weight so may be it is fatty tissue???
