I guess I should tell my story. Hopefully my self-made cure can help others when Apples or some other 'cure' won't work.
First of all, ever since I can remember, I've always had vomit rise up like I was going to be sick and often. I always thought it was normal. Like it was suppose to happen and it happened to everyone. Boy was I wrong. When I was younger, and it happened, I couldn't help myself and was sick. But as I got older, I thought throwing up was childish, so I would always swollow it back down and go and get a drink to wash away the taste.
Little did I know, this was not normal, and that infact I had acid reflux. It's taken me 21, almost 22 years to realise this because I never spoke about it to anyone because again I thought it was normal. Anyway last year was my first experience of getting a 'lump in the throat'. I just remember it being really tight, hard to swollow and I remember my neck being sore. I would probably describe the feeling as a female feeling for the first time what it was like to have an adam's apple. Stupid analogy, but that's what it felt like. Never being male, myself, I never and will never know the feeling of one, so I guessed that this was what it might felt like.
Anyhow, the afternoon on the day that I first realised it, I searched google for "Lump in throat". At the time all that came up was that it was stressed related. I thought that could be it, seeing as I was a little stressed than what I usually was (I'm pretty mellow and carefree). So I dismissed it and tried to calm myself. After a few days, I didn't feel it anymore. I had just woke up a few mornings later, and everything was back to normal. I was grateful.
Anyhow just over a year later, in about July/August a nightly ritual began occuring. Every night when I was about to fall asleep, I rolled over to my left side and I began coughing. Coughing, coughing and more coughing. I couldn't help it. I wasn't sick at the time, but it was like I had some sort or irritation. After a while, I finally turned to my other side, and magically...it stopped. I had no explanation for it. The next night I took a dose of cough syrup and it stopped for that night. The next night, I didn't take any, and I started coughing again.
I couldn't do anything about it, unless I took a dose of cough syrup every night. I wasn't going to do that, especially when I could just go to sleep on my right side. Anyway for a few months I had it, and just continued to sleep on my other side. Then come mid-September of 2007, I woke up one morning to feel yet again the same feeling of the lump in the throat. I was so annoyed. I thought I had had it, and it had gone away forever.
This time however, I discussed it with my mother and my sister (who are both very knowledgeable with medical type issues, with my mum being a nurse in her younger days and my sister being an upcoming physiologist). My mum asked me about the feeling of throwing up into your mouth more often than not, and I said I experienced it alot of times over my life and that I thought it was normal. She told me it wasn't and it was called Acid Reflux.
So now knowing what it was, I searched the internet again trying to find a cure for Acid Reflux. All I came across was obviously antacid. I searched the house, and found three different types. Two were chewable and one you disolved in water and drank. My mum then asked me if I had felt heartburn, and I answered no, but for a while I had and had no explanation for it.
So I took all three different types (not all at once though). They seemed to cure the heartburn, but not the lump in my throat. After a week, I decided I was going to the doctors to see what could be done about it, but because I was scared it was cancer, on the day before I was going to make an appointment I told myself I wouldn't go just yet. "One more day, one more day". Everyday I hoped in the morning it would just go away. It never did.
I tried and tried to get rid of it. Trying to eat an apple slowly, it didn't work. Eating a banana didn't work either. I was about to try to go out and buy Apple Cider Vinegar, but I came to a conclusion that I would try myself to spew/vomit and see if that could relieve some of the pressure.
Well it worked, sort of, well better than the apple and banana. Instantly I felt relief. Through my nose also I was able to blow out clear phlegm/mucas. And that made me feel better also. I stopped however after vomitting once, because I had read about how it damages the enamel in your teeth. Also my vomit kind of scared me. Usually it would be a yellow colour, with..well..I hope nobody is eating while they're reading this..chunks of food. But this vomit was different. It was clear phlegm/mucas with black bits. I had just been drinking coke beforehand, so that could have explained the black, but the clearness of it I couldn't explain.
Anyhow for the next few days, I could swollow easier and I was happier. But then instead of the lump, I felt a tightness like never before. It was like I had had too much to eat, and it was kind of hard to breathe. So the next day, I made myself sick (once) and it relieved it a bit more. Finally the next day, I decided to do it again and not stop myself but keep going until I had emptied all of the clear vomit from my system and got to something that looked familiar. And it worked. After a few times of vomiting clear, the last time was yellow and it looked like what it should. There was slight burning in my throat, like normal (right?), and I just had a drink and now a few hours earlier. I feel great. Much much happier, no pain, no lump, no clicking, no clear phlem, no difficulty swollowing, NOTHING!
So that's why I can't believe how many of you have had this feeling for over a few months. A year is amazing, and two years with having it just blows my mind. I seriously couldn't handle it anymore, and had to do something. It seemed to work, so hopefully if you need a cure, and don't mind trying my way, I hope it works for you. It always turns out in the end, that the simplist little thing can work and help you in more ways than a much harder way.

About 5 months ago me and my family went on a holiday in the Great Barrier Reef. I had been scuba diving for the first time, and it wasn't long until I found an annoying lump in my throat. It is about 100% more irritating when lying down and getting puffed out. It does not hurt, it is UNCOMFORTABLE. I had X-rays taken and nothing was there, it ruined my holiday and on the plane back it was 1000 times worse. When i pull my skin on my neck out a bit, it goes away, and the first few minutes of when I wake up it goes.
I sing, but sing wrongly which means I strain my voice, I am pretty sure this is the reason although I wanted to clear things up because it just came back again all of a sudden. AND I WANT IT GONE QUICK BUT EVERYONE THINKS WTF IS THIS KID ON ABOUT THERE NOTHING THERE!
Someone pleaseeee help if u have this problem too!!

Alright,
So Here's my situation, I dont have health insurance, unfortunatleey and I dont watn to spend thousands of dollars to go waste time if this is nothing, I dont know if there is a lump in my throat, but for the last month it feels like the sensation is not going away. I never felt like I had a lump in my throat before, so this is a new sensation, I acutally started feeling it when I was smoking cigarettes and some pot every day like 3 times a day... but now I quit both cigarettes and pot, so I am feeling better over all but this feeling in my throat is not gone, and the other strange thing is that right next to the feeling there are a few swollen glands which do not go away.
Symptoms:
When I first Started feeling the sensation in my throat I only felt it while smoking a cigarette, so that was another reason I gave them up. I am afraid my cells mutated, so if that happend i may have cancer.. I just dont know, but its been probably 3 months total I am guessing that I ve started to get the feeling. I mean its hard to remember but definitly for 2 months. Just probably a week ago I started to have the sensation more consistently, sometimes it becomes less noticable after I eat or if I chew gum, otherwise I have the sensation, not to mention the glands which dont feel huge, but are there.
No pain
Glands No Pain
no cough
no difficulty breathing
only feel sensation on right side of throat
cant feel it from the outside, except a few swollen glands, which are not tender or sore, just can feel them.
just quit smoking pot like a week ago..
Life style Cons:
Smoked for 5 yrs on and off... maybe like 2.5 total
stress due to work, long hours,
Often Lack of sleep.
Pro's:
quit smoking
starting to eat healthy - vegtables good diet but not too many times a day.
dont really drink, used to..
I am 24 yrs old
Havent really had too much contact with a phisician for about 7 yrs..
no primary phisician
I am conserned but dont know how to act because I dont really have insurance like I said and right now I am self employed and its really really a rough time financially, I am in between a rock and a hard place, go get checked out and spend thousnads I dont have, or die of cancer. So any suggestions or advice is cool... Thanks i AM WITH YOU ON THIS DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON
