hey i am a very sporty girl and i got my period later than my mom or my sister. I finally got it this month, and it is so long! 10 days actually, and today I am having brown discharge. Why is my period so abnormally long? will it ever shorten?
I know that the first question is how long should period last when you get it for the first time. You are young, you will learn that everyone period is totally different, that there is no unique formula for it. Anyway, since this is your first period, you should know that it is completely normal. Also, you should not be scared if your period doesn't come next month or if you get it a bit stronger or less stronger. This is all normal. Your body is trying to adapt to some new things, such is period. It takes about two to three years until your period is established completely.
Sounds completely normal. When girls first get their period, it can be very irregular. And the brown d/c is your body cleaning out the rest of the blood from your period. Don't be surprised if next time, it is irregular again. Could be shorter...or longer. Your body will staighten out over time. And also, don't be surprised if you don't get another period for a month...or 2, or 3. That is normal too. It happens often, and happened to me back when I first started. Had a long period, and then not another for 2 months. You are just fine, and everyone is different. If you are still concerned, call your doctor, or ask your school nurse. Take care.
Hey. Yes dont worry, this is completeley normal. i am a sporty girl myself and when i first started my periods was 2 dyas long to 2 weeks long they start off like this for a few months but in time they will sort themselfs out so they are every 28 days or so. the brown discharge is the rest of the blood its all jjust coming out of you. :-)
