how long did you use the hydro cortisone. seems i have the same issue, dime size spot on head. its been about 3 weeks, and i just started yesterday with the 1% hydro cortisone, which seems to be helping with the look of the spot, though making it a bit more sensitive than it was....

I have been suffering from this on and off for a couple of years. I usually can avoid it if I use plenty of lube. But when it does happen I use a very mild tea tree wash to clean the area, rinse well, then apply Aloe vera gel straight from the plant (just break off a stalk and squeeze out the gel) very cooling (immediate alleviation of burning and itching) and noticeable results overnight. Do this 2 - 3 times a day and it heals up completely within a week or so.

Hello all, Id like to contribute to this already amazingly uncomfortable topic. For the last 7 months I had been suffering from what the dr told me was definitely friction burn. He prescribed me a cream for an antifungal/ yeast infection and cream for psoriasis. I was told to rub them together then apply them to the top of my penis which was slowing beginning to resemble raw chopped meat. The improvement was significant after 3 weeks of use but still there was redness and soreness immediately following traditional sex. So here I am after sex showering, then applying a cocktail of cream immediately. I world for a while but still was not gettin better. When I say better, I'm referring to the penis I used to love and know growing up and never experiencing this horrible friction burn. So as a 40yr old divorced man enjoying my re-birth, I was frustrated and couldn't believe that my penis was failing me. I was starting to become emotionally affected by this also. I tried everything from natural aloe from the plant to hydrocortisone with only marginal results. So finally I got it. As a father of 2 children, I remember what I used to put on their chaffed behinds and how that stuff would clear them up immediately....... Finally success!!! I can't believe that all along this cute was lying in the memory of my children's wet diapers.
I used desitin for one week straight. I will say that after the 3rd day it was all gone but I continued to apply for good measure. I can honestly say that after 7 months of this strange experience I found the remedy. I have sex now and there is no redness or burning like in the past.
I hope this helps you gentlemen like it helped me.
Best of luck.

Ok. I think i got it guys. I've been frantic to find a solution for this as i had a friction burn below the head that wasn't healing. Its almost completely healed i feel ths need to write as it's a horrible feeling. It's not an STD. Verified. Ok. Here goes. This will take around three weeks/ month. No masturbation or sex.
1) clotrimazole cream for yeast infection
- apply twice daily for 4 days.
2) on thd 5th day, alternate with paneten cream. Remember, never rub the area hard to clean. Skin need to rebuild. Do this for anothe 3 days.
Note: if you do sport, dabble some paneten before each time to prevent short friction.
3) now only use panete for another 3.
4) the area should be healing but still a little red.
5) get pure Shea butter. Apply once a day. Let it heal without anything after that. Do for 3 days. Then, just let it go.
**** avoid any hard rubbing during process****

three weeks ago I suffered a graze type injury underneath the foreskin, resembling a burn, with the very fine surface layer scraped off. Having a pee was so painful and underwear put pressure on it too. I tried several remedies, like those from this blog. THE MIRACLE CURE WAS to pierce capsules of vitamin E oil...pure oil...and apply many times a day. I also managed to pee slowly, turning my penis around, so as to avoid the pee stinging the sore part. I avoided any soap, shampoo etc and would have dried it with a hairdryer, but did not have one at the time. I dabbed it very carefully.

It is now only TWO WEEKS since I was injured, and I am healed...no more excruciating pain!! I would have also tried to get the air to the sore spot as much as possible, but conditions did not suit that type of exposure. I DO THINK THAT WOULD HAVE SPEEDED RECOVERY....also,unless you are circumcised, it is difficult and sometimes uncomfortable to keep the foreskin pulled back. I did not fancy trying that, to be honest. Good luck to my fellow men who suffer the same experience..

I have the exact same problem but today I noticed that I had blood in my semen. Yes Im Freaking out but the common answer from what I found on the web is that the blood is probably from the inflammation of the urethra. Ok So would taking an anti-inflammatory work?

My boyfriend and I have a very active sex life also, and he is having that same problem. We are now on a "break", so it can heal. We don't know what to do, whenever it heals, as soon as we are active, the skin rubs raw again. It's so frustrating, for both of us, and painful for him I'm sure. We, like you just want our sex life back.

So I've conquered this a couple times. It's important to know that not all situations mentioned on here are the same and if you're not seeing healing after 5-7 days, you should go to a dermatologist so that they can rule out something more serious (like a STD or fungal infection).

I did the creams and while they did help somewhat, I didn't completely heal. This is because creams left the skin moist and somewhat sticky which made the skin more susceptible to chaffing during the day/night. Here's what worked for me:
1. Wash your entire crotch area and your penis with a fragrance free bar soar (Ivory, Neutrogena etc).
2. Get a bottle of witch hazel and pour some on a cotton ball (cotton pads work even better) and soak the burned area on your penis with it for about 15 minutes keeping it moist the whole time. It might sting at first if you use witch hazel that contains alcohol. After 15 minutes, let it dry for another 10 minutes. Then rinse the area with water.
3. Let your penis dry again and then use a LIBERAL amount of gold bond powder or baby powder over your penis and testicles.. no, this will not look sexy at all. But it will help the outer skin to dry and and toughen so that the skin underneath can heal. Do this especially at night and lay on your back. Try to wear loose fitting underwear at night and change them if you sweat. The idea is to keep the skin dry and exposed to air. This will help reduce any fungal outbreak potential.
4. You should really do what you can to minimize your penis from rubbing other skin (your testicles, underwear, thighs) during this time to allow it to heal without chaffing and even after it heals. Over the course of the day, this micro friction takes a toll on the skin, especially if you're active and when you get erections. I found a sock like product online used to protect adult circumcision scars during the healing time. It fits over my penis and protects it. If you use a similar product, be sure to sprinkle powder in it to help control moisture buildup. Good luck!

I've had this problem before and what I found to work like a charm is a product called maximum strength Desitin. It is a cream made for diaper rash but I think it's the zinc oxide in it that works good. I use liberally at night and then again in the morning. Started to see results overnight. The cream is super thick and sticky so just a little drop will go a long way

Few days ago I used toothpaste to get rid of pearly penile papules. It was a stupid idea because it irritated my penis too much. Now my glans is dry and peeling. The area where it's peeled is darker than the rest of the glans. Does anyone know if the peeled layer will grow back? Is the area going to stay dark permanently? Thanks in advance.
