Thanks for the info! Are the headaches in the back of the head a common occurrence for people too? My doctors tell me they are not related but I never had headaches or this pain in the back right side of my head until the gallbladder symptoms got worse.
I appreciate the help!

Headache or pain on the back of the head can be sign of high blood pressure or it can be a simple matter of bad posture.

I have had stomach pains on and off for the last 9 years and I'm only 25. Mine have always been located slightly above my belly button and go across. The severe pains come and go but there is a contant tenderness in the area. It even hurts when my fiance puts hisarm around me. I went through a ton of tests years ago all of which were normal and then gave up. I am constantly tired (enlarged thyroid, but labs are normal, so was told I was good there). I havent had the headaches others are talking about, but my hair and nails dont grow. I gain weight for no reason and even when I was on prescription adipex I ony lost 4 pounds in a month and put it right back on. Even though my pain is centrally located my doc decided to get an ultrasound. It was normal so she ordered a Heida scan. They called me today and said my gallbladder was not functioning properly and scheduled me an apointment with the gengeral surgeon on the 3rd for a consult. I'm not sure what is wrong with it since all they was was not functioning properly. Any suggestions? Is it more typical to gain or loose weight after surgery. I have read both and this is my biggest fear.

If I were you I would look into IBS and food intolerances, including celiac disease. You can't count on doctors though, you need to do your homework. There's a test for celiac disease, but it's not conclusive, since it only diagnoses the disease in its more severe stages. A lot of people have mild levels of gluten intolerance and it goes undiagnoses, because it doesn't show on exams. There's no way for doctors to diagnose other types of food intolerance, all the tests are hit and miss. Only you can test foods over time and figure out what triggers the symptoms you have.
I can tell you that a lot of people that complain about having their gallbladders removed are people that have food intolerances, IBS or celiac disease and THAT was what caused the gallbladder to malfunction. So the doctor says, let's take the gallbladder out and things don't get better, and it actually gets worse because the problem is not the gallbladder. The gallbladder was just another "victim" of another more serious problem.

well, that just goes on to show that the problem is really how your body deals with certain types of food. This symptom is very common is cases of food intolerance and celiac disease, as well as all the others you described.

I questioned the anxiety over and over. Finally made appointment with GI doctor (thank God i have a no referral policy!) he reviewed all the previous testing then ordered hida scan.... Results: gallbladder ejection fraction 4%.... I see a surgeon in 2 weeks.

Pain in the back of the head is definetely NOT related to gallbladder disease. Maybe the coincidence is related to the way the gallbladder disease affects your blood pressure and then high blood pressure does cause pain in the back of the head. Or it could be completely unrelated, just plain coincidence. This type of pain can be cause by bad posture, too much time in front of the computer, sitting at a desk or a lot of different posture and spine related problems.

I have been reading this thread and am having many of the same symptoms: constant pain in RUQ that wraps around to my back, pain in my right shoulder and neck, and constant right-sided headaches (which doctors have assured me is unrelated to my gallbladder), all of which get worse after eating. My symptoms started when I was pregnant and have progressively gotten worse. I have had 5 "attacks," but only 2 of them followed particularly fatty meals. When I have an attack, I get terrible stomach and back pain (feels almost like labor), nausea, and uncontrollable burping. All my tests have been normal--no stones, no celiac--and my HIDA scan came back at 90%. Has anyone else had a normal or high HIDA scan result? I'm convinced that my gallbladder is causing my problems, but I'm not sure my doctors believe me. Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat?

Hello to this Guest...
Just wondering if indeed it was your gallbladder as I am having the same symptoms including the flushed red face. Terrified it could be something else like Carcinoid. Hope you will see this message and respond. Thanks!

I agree with many of the posts ahead of mine. Headaches are not a symptom or are a result of gall bladder issues. Gall bladder problems are charectorized by indigestion, bloating, belching, pain in the right shoulder, sudden gain or loss of weight, etc.

I had my gallbladder removed 2 months ago. I was dx with billary dyskinesia too. I feel wonderful except for one problem. I now have headaches on the right side of my head, trailing down to my right eye. The pain over my eye is like a burning sensation. I plan to see a doctor. I just wanted to say I too was having hair loss. I can already see my hair thickness improving. Who would think gallbladder disease would cause hair loss. I would suggest to all my friends that if you are having pain, and other related problems to gallbladder disease to strongly think about having you gallbladder removed. I did not gain any weight after surgery.

I am having gallbladder surgery in the morning, 3/7, and I had no idea that I had gallstones, sludge and wall thickening until an ER visit for nausea and dizziness. After seeing the surgeon, I realized that I have dealt with the symptoms for years and had no idea, thought it was IBS. I, too, have extreme fatigue, hair loss, difficultly losing weight, very painful bloating, gas, etc. I am also on armour thyroid and my Dr is still working to get my thyroid levels regulated. I am seeing a doctor that does individualize medicine. This is the best thing I have ever done for my health. At age 60, I want to be healthy and feel the best I can. I am so glad to hear that my fatigue is part of this. It is hard to work full time when you are so tired that you can't think straight. I am praying that having my gallbladder removed will change my life and I have me back again.
