Wierd,I have been having problems when just about ready to enter REM sleep.

Once ,it was like my head buzzed like a buzzer inside my skull.

and feelings of goosbumps and slight electrical feeling and feelings of like adrenaline or something its kinda hard to describe, will originate from my back on the left and right side of my lower back and spread through out my adominal area unto my chest and then my heart palpitates and I awake with a exhaling breath like uhhhhhhhhh sounding.. its really scary.. sometimes it goes away for like a month or longer then it comes back and lasts for a week or more and only when im laying down and just about to fall asleep.. I have told my doctor and they think im bonkers.. I even got pissed off and went to another hospital and describe it to them and they have done all kinds of tests on my heart, and find nothing amiss. and even wore a 48hr heart monitor but when i had it on,everything stopped lol. and I have had a sleep study to check for sleep apnea.. still waiting for the results on that though. now they want me to do a calcium score..

Im about ready to just give up,my back has alot of lypomas and others that dont feel like lypomas but harder and pain and wierd sensations are comming from them areas and run into my chest... but they wont schedule anything like a mri or anything, doctor even didnt want a x-ray said I dont think you really need an x-ray and be exposed to radiation..lol can you believe it?

But that wierd electrical butterfly sensation moving slowly from my back around into my adominal then chest and my heart being effected, really freaks me out. sometimes it seems like my heart actually stops cause when it does it,my eyes force closed and i let out a uhhhhhh sound like my respitory is stuck on exhaling slowly causing the sound. its crazy.. Im at a loss.

My doctor said what I experienced is known as Hypnagogia.  I have since read about it online and while there are various types of occurrences one can experience, it makes me feel better knowing I am not ill and not losing my mind either.  Hope this helps!

what i am about to say is going to sound crazy, but its the truth. I was also on lexapro 3 years ago for just about 3 months and decided I did not want to beon meds. I didnt taper off, I just stopped it and thats when i got the brain zaps. They soon stopped until recently when i started meditating. I was very relaxed and almost asleep when I heard my 18 yr old daughter yelling. I heard her as if I were very far, I was almost sleeping and I heard a pop zap sound. She said that she saw a like, with electricity sound on the door. Freaked us out! I know I am experiencing a spiritual awakening. I was told that it was me who caused it. We are surrounded by electricity. Since that night, I got the brain zap once, while asleep. I hear it, in my ears. When I am praying, deep, or meditating, I feel the sensation on my head, even my forehead fevers. Feels like that feeling you get when you listen to a favorite song that gives you goosebumps on your head (best to describe). There is a spiritual awakening happening in the world and I think its possible, the meds trigger something in our brain. I suggest you taper off and stay off, meditate and think positive. Buy the book "the secret". Doctors r quick to put us on meds. Don't trust them. I control my anxiety now, but takes time and practice. The mind is a very powerful thing, VERY! P.S, I also get this feeling with the vibrations, like its swelling. I have been spending time in the woods, away from electricity. Think positive thoughts, about nature, happy moments, the earth etc, feels great!

meditating is deep thought. No one mentions any spiritual things here. Has anyone experienced a love of earth, life etc, meditation? Vision has improved or seeing numbers in sequence? like for me 333, 1111, 222. Sudden fevers that just go away. Improved senses, tiredness, sudden moments of sadness. want to help others etc?

I get these "brain shocks" all the time!  It only happens after I miss a dose of anti-depression/anxiety medication.  I use to be vicodine/meth addict.  I always thought I distroyed part of my brain and that was why I felt these shocks.  I've been reading all kinds of posts on this toppic and it looks like it happens to a lot of different types of people, not just prior addicts.  My concern is whether or not these shocks are causing any problems currently, or can they ignored, like a body twtich.  They really drive me crazy, especially when I'm at work and I realize I've left my medication at home.:-(

I haven't posted in a long time but definitely want to comment on my findings about what many Doctors already have known for a very long time. The ANTIDEPRESSANTS ARE WHAT CAUSES THE BRAIN BUZZES and other symptoms. The only thing that you can do is understand if you need an antidepressant because your doctor REALLY BELIEVES YOU NEED TO BE ON THEM, just know that when you get off the ANTIDEPRESSANTS, IT IS A BRAIN REACTION OF WITHDRAW FROM THE DRUG THAT AFFECTS THE CHEMICALS OF THE BRAIN. IT DOES GO AWAY USUALLY AFTER THREE WEEKS TO A MONTH. For some people longer if on the medicine for a very long time.

IDK what to say but i feel these buzzings everynight as i am falling asleep since i was little. about the only time i won't feel them or they just don't bother me is if i get drunk and that seems bad cause its kinda scary when they stop. like something bad will happen. It kinda feels like something is talking to me like a morse code some times.  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use

I am a comedian and I have had a creative block for the past year but I have had this sensation for 12 hours now and I have wrote the best stuff I have ever, I managed to totally finish a set I'm very excited about this as I do believe this is a heightened sense of consciousness, but I haven't been able to sleep in 36 hours, I keep getting sharp pains dright he right side of my neck and chest,  I wish I could tap into this but I'm going to actually go insane if this does not go. Iinformally suffer from anxiety and depression which I haven't felt whilst I've felt this buzzing, I'm really intrigued but aLso very scared this is so sureal

If you are having the symptoms above, while standing up straight, back up against something solid, lean over at the waist until your head is below your heart then slowly turn your head from side to side. If you can recreate the problem, then you probably have a small crystalline build-up in your inner ear. This can be on one or both sides but one side worse than the other would be more likely to cause the vertigo as well.

..YAY!!!!...that is exactly what I have thought too..... Mine is sporadic, it will get me for a couple of weekend then go and then maybe 1 or 2 nights and go and maybe 3monthes will go by and I'll get it for a week. I have read down from the 1st in thread to this one and I also had 2 close encounters with lightening thru my life though not actually struck, 2 very close calls..I hope there are GP's getting links to this as they may not think we are so mad...Maybe we should all send one to our own GP, might collaborate or look into it with a serious view.

I actually liked the new nerve Idea, My 1st thought was the opposite...1 dying..BUT..I got positive!

I found I get it going off to sleep and more so if overtired..I am positive it's related to sleep deprivation undoubtedly; as I often do all nighters or late ones as I have no structure in my daily or nightly routine, I am free to work and play as I wish and get engrossed especially on pc..
