Hi. Odds on full term pregnancy have changed over the past few years. It is recommended that you dialyse either 6 days although my daughter was still premature, but i suffered pre-eclampsia. A friend of mine dialysed the same and she went full term. The best kind of dialysis which most women do if they can whilst pregnant is nocturnal (8 hours a night). This is seen as the "gold standard' of dialysis and is the equivalent of having a transplant. I personally tried nocturnal and it didn't suit me, I got to restless and suffered panic attacks but this does give your baby the best chance. I hope this helps. I am not a medical professional this is purely advice from what research i have done and what my renal consultant has told me. You also have to be closely monitored by an obstetrician and I had fortnightly scans, it was hard to see the baby as I could not fill by bladder to get the best ultrasound.

Actually you can stop dialysis if your levels are normal and you still put out urine.now if you can't produce urine like me.transplant is the only way to come off.

I’m 46 and have been on dialysis since 2-1-2010 I went in for hernia surgery on March 8, 2018 and guess what. I’m pregnant. I did a follow up test a week later and still pregnant. I’m doing PD 12 hours per night and may have to add home hemo but I’m so excited and blessed. My husband and I are thrilled. I’m taking epo, blood pressure, and a binder with iron in it. I’ll update when I can.

I just want to say that’s not true. I was on dialysis for three years and then off for four years before the hospital screwed up and overloaded my body with fluid. So it is possible to get off of dialysis without receiving a new kidney.

Amen! I’m so happy for you and your husband. I want to have a baby so badly but I’m on dialysis as well. I won’t give up reading your story. Thanks for sharing

It really does suck! I’m going through the same thing but I’m keeping faith and the most high because he has the final say. Good luck to you!

I feel the same exact way. I’m 34 on dialysis and I’m trying as well. I do not care what people say I want my baby badly

You really didn’t have to say that. People will do what they choose. Yes there’s a risk just as there’s a chance it will not be. Faith is what people are working with not your opinion or anyone else.

I'm pregnant and on dialysis. I thought that I couldn't have a child. What should I do?
