Yeah, I’m going off birth control! I’ve finally settled my economic/material situation, so I’m going to relax control, since my boyfriend and I have agreed to have baby only after we find decent and stable jobs. I’ve been taking pills and have stopped using them two weeks ago, but I’m not sure what to expect – it’s probably serious change for my body, right?
Getting your hormones from the pill has made your body a bit “lazy”, so it will certainly take some time for it to start it’s own production of hormones. It will take something between one and three months (rarely more, but it could happen), and you could expect to get your earlier pattern of menstruation cycle after you quit pills. If you had regular cycle, it would be regular again, if you hadn’t – it will become irregular. Going off birth control pills will not affect your natural cycle. Also, you will experience certain side-effects like nausea and breast tenderness, or you could suffer headaches and tiredness, even change of weight (gain or loss), but all this is different from person to person. It could also be that you are anxious because you’re not using pill any more, so you need to relax your mind, too.
