I had PVP surgery about 12 weeks ago. My stream is great but I still have urgency and frequency I have to go about every 4 hours, sometimes more. I also still have blood in my urine sometimes a lot other times nothing. Yesterday it was a lot and a small clot came out (I did a lot of physical work yesterday). I called the doctor and he said that it was still healing and prescribed Detrol LA.I had the surgery because I didn't want tpo take the drugs. Has anyone else had this problem for so long? About 5 years ago I had the Indigo lazer surgery but that never really helped. :-(

Going every 4 hours is better than normal so I wouldn't worry about that. As for total healing, that can take six months or more.

One Doctor has called me a walking fee to Urologists. Several Doctors have told me I never should have had Lazer Surgery or any kind of surgery. The doctor that did the green light lazer surgery lied to me about the expected results and possible problems. He told me of the many thousands of surgeries there had been vertualy no problems of bladder control. I have been wearing a bladder control pad 24 hours a day since my green light lazer surgery over 2 years ago. I have seen some of the best urololgists around but no help so far. I also cannot find a lawyer or a doctor who will to take this doctor to court. Is there any thing I can do. I have lost my job because of the incontinence and up to my ears in debt.

I had the green light laser prostate surgery on May 10, 2007 so I'm 13 weeks out now. Your frequency sounds great. My doctor prescribed first detrol and later enablex, which is more potent, to reduce my bladder spasms and urgency. I quit taking the bladder medicines about a month ago due to their side effects (e.g., dry mouth). The urgency problem is partly due to increased muscle strength in the bladder due to years of having to push really hard to force the urine out of a relatively small opening. It will gradually subside (it is much better in my case already). I think the soreness following surgery makes it worse. My doctor also recommended that I do kegel exercises to strength the muscles that control urination. I do these exercises every day. Overall, I am 100% happy with my surgery.

4 months after Photoselective vaporization of the prostate (PVP) surgery, I have the urge to urinate more than before the surgery. I'm currently on Detrol. I feel that it was a waste for the surgery. When will I be ok?
