green stools after gall bladder removed

Mine was diseased and enlarged shooting poison throughout me, had exploratory surgery a year before so they used the same opening, afterwards my stomach is ten times worst

Not every one is the same and there are still instances where they still cut you open to remove the gall bladder. I just had mine removed 2 weeks ago today. I did have laparoscopic surgery but my surgeon sis tell me that there are times that the incision has to be made. I did have a drainage tube and stayed in the hospital for 2 days because my gall bladder burst before the surgeon could get it out and I was in quite a bit of pain for a couple of days.

I had my gall bladder removed 14 months ago. Was supposed to be a laproscopic but it was so bad I had it out the old way. He was inside me for 4 hours. I spent 4 days in the hospital. I healed up fine over 6 weeks. But my poop is green to this day.

There are still occasions where open gall bladder removal is safer. Excessive swelling, massive infection, infection in surrounding areas... Everyone knows there are exceptions to the rule.

not everyones experience is the same. I had mine removed, but due to complications had to stay in the hospital for well over a week. Thank God everyone is NOT you. Some of us have compassion and brains.

That is very true, and well said everyones case is different, I had my gallblader removed one year ago and I was in by 10 am and out of the hospital by 2 pm, still have green poop once in while, laproscopic no COMPLICATIONS...... THATS THE DIFFERENCE

My surgery was over a year ago and I still have abdominal pain. When the pain comes I know I am having a bowel movements soon. Here lately it's been soft and green. I drink alot of water

Not always true as I just had my mine out and my Doctor told me that some people aren't candidates for laproscopic same day surgery . Some people still have to be cut way open .

just so you know surgeons go in with the intent to do it laproscopically, that Is why when consent is obtained it says with possible open- not all surgeons are doing it laproscopically but it is the optimal way, I don't think you need to call someone stupid when you are clearly not educated on the procedure.

I had an open cholescystectomy 7/22/2015. Poop was a kind of tobacco color now it's turned green because I'm eating lots of fatty/oily/greasy food. But I do not have diarrhea. If you have diarrhea it may be because you're eating too much fatty/oily/greasy food that is difficult to now digest because the bile that was stored in the gall bladder also had bile salts which broke down the fat/oil/grease. Most of the fat etc, is just getting expelled. We need fats. So if you want to stop the diarrhea and ingest some fat which is necessary for good brain function, you need to get to the Vitamin Shoppe or GNC or some online natural food store and get some bile salt supplements.

I had my gall bladder removed 8 days ago. I have had diarrhea for over a month. I went tonight and it was pure green. I called my fiance' in the bathroom and we both were really scared and almost went back to the hospital, but I said ... Let's wait and see if it continues. I didn't know it was normal until I read all of your stories. Thank you !!!!

I had my gallbladder removed six months ago. I had an open gallbladder surgery. The cut me 13 inches in my upper abdomen and kept me in the hospital for six days before I signed myself out. I still have pain from being cut too close to my rib. They cut too much muscle and tissues told by my GI and another surgery. Not all gallbladder removal is easy.
