green stools after gall bladder removed

My galbladder came out almost a year ago, laparoscopicly. I did not stay over night but was in the recovery room all day and did take over a week to fully heal. I felt pretty awful for a while after and was very sore- so again all cases are different. My diarrhea has gotten so much better but still flames up when I eat something super fatty but only sometimes now. Sometimes I can get away with it. Although fats are necessary, it is not typically the only thing causing the diarrhea so the post above is not true- for me it was every food, fruits and veggies and all. My doctor said there is a medicine that could help with this however so make sure to ask for assistance if it is terrible.

My husband had the same thing. He ended up with pneumonia and had to have 2 liters of fluid removed from his lungs. Don't let your condition go on be persistent. He was in the hospital twice after his surgery getting weaker before they finally found it.

My wife had this done almost 2 years ago and goes to the bathroom very shortly after eating. Comes out green at times and others the color of what she eats. Will she ever have a normal bowel movement

I had my gall bladder removed 4 months ago. At first my stool was brown but, now it's greenish. I thought there was something wrong. Glad to know that it's normal after the surgery. Thanks for the info

Having the gall bladder removed is quite the learning curve. Mine was removed in 2002 and I can eat food again without extreme pain that I was told by many doctor's was an ulcer or just gas, which I have heard a lot of people are told. Not my in my case, my gall bladder was disintegrating and I did not have gallstones. Since the surgery, on occasion, some foods are difficult to digest. I have a digestive enzymes that aids my digestive system in breaking down the foods/fats. They are amazing, within 20-30 minutes life is good again. Actually, since my gall bladder was removed life is great! Occasionally, my husband takes the enzymes when he over indulges with the his fat intake and he still has his gall bladder. I would recommended anyone having occassional discomfort after eating to look into getting the digestive aid from a local health food store or Doctor. They are not antacids's which stop the digestive process and leave food in your system to rot before it passes. These enzymes facilitate the digestive process (making up for the lack of a having extra bile). And for the record, my stools have a beautiful range of colors due to the new plumbing routine. No Danella is not stupid. Sometimes they have to do an open surgery to remove a gallbladder. My doctor explained it it me in August 2016 when I had mine done. Mine was able to be removed laproscopically. Four incisions two on my right side, one in between my breast below my breast bone, than a larger one in my belly button from where they removed the gallbladder. Going on three months now and I still get pains under my right rib cage. Every one is different when it comes to surgeries. My sister had hers removed before I did by the same surgeon and has had no issues. So in no way is Danella or anyone else stupid just because their experience is different. I don't know about my sister but I'm going through the green poop along with diarrhea and even constipation st times.

I'm going through the same thing right now. But it's been almost three months since mine was removed. My doctor never said anything about green poop, but she did explain that the other things could happen. I hope we both are feeling normal again soon.

I have had my gallbladder removed 6 months ago this year and I hadon't day surgery in and out one day I have three scars on the right side of my belly and one incision in my belly button and I went home the same day of surgery so you are right everybody is not the same so people shouldn't call each other stupid because our bodies are not the same and the procedures can be totally different and how do I know because I'm a living victim of this and I also worked with a bunch of the great pathologist in a lab at a actual hospital so I know the facts everybody's not the same for sure

Depends on the surgery and condition of the surgery. I had my gallbladder removed and had to stay in the hospital 4days. In my case I had gallstones that got into my bile duct which consisted in having to remove those before removing my gallbladder. So really depends on the patient and Dr as to if it's a one day surgery or not. I've had issues with my bowel since and my gastro Dr still claim it's normal but only have problems when I eat something greasy or fatty.

Hi Everyone. I'm a nurse who recently had her gall bladder removed. Just to let you know that sometimes it is still an open proceedure if there is infection or if other structures are involved. Usually they try to do it laprascopicly. I had horrible pain in my abdomen that referred to my right shoulder which is a classic symptom. The bile which is green goes right to your GI tract you no longer have a gallbladder and causes the stools become green sometimes. Namaste

I had gall bladder removed lap. style. went in to e.r. on Monday and didn't come home until
the following Saturday afternoon. Gall stones and had developed pancreatitis and infected liver.
They had to clean infection up. I'm home now, but still in pain and suffering with bad bowel movements which are green too.
