had a hymenectamy about 2 weeks ago and had my first period I have stoped bleeding and now there is a light brown discharge is it normal? I'm 12 yeas young any ideas
Hi there, As your period comes to the end the blood becomes less and turns from the bright red to a brown because it is not fresh anymore but kind of old as the last little bit of the lining of the uterus makes it's way down. Do you think it could be that?

it's possible but it lasts the whole month and has a awful smell to it

Oh, it shouldn't last the whole month, just a few days, and not have an awful smell. Could be that you possibly got an infection from the surgery. You might have your doctor check it out. Were you scheduled for a post op appointment ?

That would make it the 29 August which is a a long time to wait and put up with a smelly discharge. Although he might not have seen anything wrong last time,( did he take swabs of the discharge and look it under the microscope), it is not normal to have a smelly discharge for any reason , whether you have had surgery or not. I know this sounds awful but when you went for your check up did you leave the discharge there or wash it away. It is always nice to have a bath and be really clean when you have a doctors appointment, but if you have a discharge you need to leave it as it is so the nurse can get a good sample and be able to test it. If it's really bad and smelly and not getting any better I would call up the doctor and get an earlier appointment and not wait 6 more weeks!

I was assuming you had the discharge when you went. So as this has developed since I am glad you are going to ask your mum to get an earlier appoinment. Hope you can get get it sorted out , I'm sure it is nothing to worry about but there is no need to put up with it and better to get it checked earlier than later. Glad I was of some help to you, keep us posted on what happens, good luck :)
